fumbles and kick returns happen to the best players and best teams nearly every weekend and it usually has nothing to do with the coach.

Nonsense! A lack of discipline is directly attributed to the coach.

From most of the responses I think you are the only one.

No, not the only one. There are others of us here that have the capacity to be thrilled with the victories, yet concerned with how they occured. I don't post often, but have been a die hard fan since a child in the 60s and have lived through much worse. I am grateful that things like championships and undefeated seasons are even part of the discussion. I also agree that some coaching styles result in less discipline and focus on the field resulting in mistakes that prevent the team from being all it can be. Also, there is not a person on this site that can watch these games and not understand that the coaching staff has made it's share of in game mistakes, as well. That said, I certainly love to see us moving in the right direction and

You quite obviously don't know a lot about football. And that's fine, you can still be a fan. But on Saturday, we allowed a kickoff return because our lane assigments were absolutely crap. We blew a lane assigment. It was mental error. That has everything to do with coaching.

Didn't I hear that it was due to a late substitution that made a mistake? Surely you can say the coaches should have had him ready, but I don't expect, nor should you, a team of 18-22 yr olds to be a well oiled machine with spare parts just ready to plug in anywhere on a moment's notice.

Many of us were saying the same things and including UF in the "you're not gonna beat.... with that kind of play" list before they won that game.

The team has absolutely needed the offense twice this year with their backs against the wall, and the O delivered both times (albeit with a little help both times). Can they improve on silly mistakes? Absolutely, and it is frustrating to watch. Are they improving? Yes, and it is exciting to think about how much upside their is for a team that is undefeated halfway through the season, having really played no true cupcakes (although they have not played the best either.)

From my perspective, LSU is sitting pretty as a team that has two real breathers in their last six, three "proving ground" games to win over the voters, and one wildcard (rebs) that they better watch out for.

I think they go 5-1 from here (L to the hogs) and beat SC in the SECCG. Whether that's good enough for Glendale or not depends on others.
