are as good a 3-some for freshmen that I've seen at LSU in maybe forever. Thompson is overshadowed by the other 2 but man, this dude is going to be an elite All-SEC SS for the next 2 yrs IMO. The other two are going to be this year and probably AA's next yr. (Crews may actually make it this yr.)

They are really fun to watch on both sides of the ball!

You had Wally and Fontenot in 2000 but yeah, getting 3 in a year is tough. Most teams won’t start 3.

If Simon is better than Thompson he should go pro.

Dean, Mitchell, Ochinko, Schimpf is the only group I could compare but they weren’t nearly as good as freshmen.

Ott, Mahtook, and Nola were solid as well

I think the best was Todd Walker, Russ Johnson, Jason Williams, Scott Schultz

Todd Walker and Russ Johnson in 1992. Again, no third player.

Jason didn’t play in 1992 though

You’re right, he redshirted. Scott Schultz did play though, and was a boss

Yup. The list expands if you count pitchers.

1995 had Furniss, Koerner, Yarnall, McClure, Coogan

Those 90s classes were ridiculous

Gah damn I forgot that Furniss and McClure were the same class. Loaded.

Earnhardt was that class too.

ETA: Yarnall was a So. in 95
