Overall I have always thought Chavis was one of the better coaches here. I did not like the scheme at end of some games but I did like his wellinness to make changes to better the team unlike the other side of the ball . Money , contract aside he might of grown tired of miles bs .

I could be alot of things or a combination of a few. Doubtful we'll ever know the real reason vs the politically correct answer. Id just like to know if it were LSU seeing the chance to move on from Chavis or vice versa.
I'll say this, this was a great get for Sumlin and A&M, home run both politically and real. These are the types of moves that change the landscape.

Imagine it because I think he gets close. Miles will be here until he chooses to leave. When he chooses to leave it will be to retire. He will not retire in the near future.

Les is not yet finished running the car into the ditch.

As I mentioned to another poster in another thread, I didn't think about this yesterday and the day before when the smoke began to come up from the ashes, but with looking at what is being said if it is indeed true with the tie in to Les, I believe you may be right. Ole Joe may be rethinking that huge buyout and as many have said that buyout goes down each and every year and Hanny said on his show last night that he believes the automatic 1 year rollover is out of the deal too. All that to say this Sid, I agree with your point of view.

His job will be much easier at A&M. It's got to be hard being DC here. The offense goes 3 and out so much there are no defensive wrinkles left for the second half. In addition, our offense really didn't put up many pts in the SEC. Yea, there's defensive talent here but there's no room for error on defense most weeks.

Probably the opposite. The last four defensive coordinators have had identical numbers and much worst numbers when they moved on, same will happen here as LSU has ball control offence that minimizes the amount of time the defense is on the field, the times when LSU has failed to control the ball, the higher amount of yards and points get scored against us. The facts are that Chavis has just about the same stats as the previous four defensive coordinators and the next one will too.

No. You have to convert 3rd downs to be a ball control team. We don't usually do much of that against the good teams. Bama this yr was an exception
