you can’t fumble until you have possession. They are saying he didn’t complete the catch by maintaining possession to the ground. He only took one step with the ball in his control so he needed to keep firm control to the ground and it rotated in his hands when hitting the ground.

Go back and watch the replay, he has possession of the ball and takes 2 steps and both are in bounds, knee hits pylon ( which means he broke the plane of the goal line ). That's all that matters. When a QB or RB dives over the pile on the goal line, reaches over the plane, then gets the ball knocked out of his hand, it's always ruled a TD. The same should have applied last night, possession of the ball, not one but 2 feet down and inbounds and broke the plane of the goal line. They f-ed that call up and they didn't rule on what they originally were asked to review.
