Not Necessarily next to the stadium, but there are a few cool options to drink before hand and take the Metro rail to the game. Rice Village, Midtown , and Downtown are all pretty popular areas walking distance from the Rail.
not a bad idea since the train is effectively free since no one pays to ride it.
You can also go to just go to rice village or dinner then take an uber to the stadium.

There is nothing worth your time that way. Stay off of 59 near Kirby (close to rice village, galleria, montrose, midtown) and a reasonable uber ride. If not, stay downtown.
this too. Not a ton to do around the stadium. If you have kids go to the museum of natural science yall will love it.

Highly recommend staying at Regency Hyatt in downtown

However, the Metro was a cluster F after the 2014 Kickoff Classic so you have been warned.
Can't stress this enough. It may be great for a Texans game, but not for an LSU game.

Even if you don't have kids the Houston Museum of Nature Science is one of the best in the Nation.

Stay Downtown , the Magnolia is a really nice hotel .. The rail is a ease in and out as well.
