Well not that we've got your attention. Can you explain the tortilla thing to us?

I got pissed one time when I thought they called another penalty on us. The tech fan I was with said, "no that's just a tortilla." I laughed at how matter of fact and casual he said it.

They kept throwing them on the sidelines too which lead to some weird stats. Beckwith had 10 tackles and gained 4 pounds.

Maybe that's why Jamal had his accident; the tortillas didn't agree with him.

Best I can do....

According to EverythingLubbock.com, the tradition hails from 1989, when students would take the lids off of their 44oz cokes and throw them on the field. Soon thereafter, the lids were gone, and since tortillas are a pretty popular tailgate food item, cheap, and fairly easy to hide on your person, they became the throwing item of choice. The more dramatic version of the story says that when top-ten ranked Texas A&M came to Lubbock in 1992, an ESPN announcer said that there was "nothing but Tech football and a tortilla factory in Lubbock". Therefore, in a little bit of cheeky fun, tortillas were thrown before the game. The Red Raiders went on to upset the Aggies, and we just kind of kept on doing it before games after that.

Baylor has a really odd tradition of students going tortilla tossing on the Waco Suspension Bridge. I visited a friend there once and that is what we did one night. They thought it was the coolest thing and acted like we couldn't visit town without doing it. Found it to be a strange and boring activity, but I guess that's Waco.

Those of us West of the Mississippi find the whole grown men shaking pom poms at a football game kinda' odd, also....

But, HEY! Not that there's anything wrong with it.

I could be wrong, but the announcer sounded a lot like the Texans announcer with the "FIRST DOWN" stuff.

Are you talking about Alabama and Auburn fans' favorite tradition? They bring their own "shakers."

The only time you'll see LSU fans using them is if they are passed out at the game.

I agree, and you will hardly ever see that in Tiger Stadium. Every now and then the athletic department puts out a bunch of towels or pom-poms on chairbacks but that's pretty much the only time they're used. Tiger fans prefer to do their cheering the old fashioned way, with their voices. Now Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, etc. is a different story.

Penalty should be :
Tortilla - 5 yards
Tortilla with salsa - 10 yards
Tortilla with salsa and quacamole- 15 yards and margaritas for everyone!!!

Do all LSU Tiger fans whine this much? Im from Houston and there are some LSU alums there but they don't whine like this.

The Tortillas is just some weird shite we do, it started sometime over the past 15 years and its just stuck. We throw it when we kick off, I personally think its funny and could care less about it but some in here give me a break, this is coming from LSU fans.
