Jefferson was not the biggest problem this year. He wasn't even one of the main problems. The main problem this year was coaching. Jefferson did in fact show some improvement as the year went on. He was clueless at the beginning but I actually think he started to develop into a leader toward the end of the season. If the damn coaches would know how to utilize what LSU has, then Jefferson would have been able to throw more and everyone here would be raving about Jefferson, saying he's one of the greatest QBs in LSU history.
I feel really bad for him because as long as our current coaches are here, he will never be able to use his true talent. He definitely has talent.

I will say, however, that he does need to work better in the pocket. He takes too long and gets sacked too much. The Florida game was brutal.

after suffering thru another season with players who seem not to be coached and some fans calling for another oc.why not try another qb? nothing against jj,but he is slow and slow in thinking. When he takes off running he will either fall down or run out of bounds.like i said nothing against him,but if we dont at least try another qb how will we ever know if we have a brees on the bench...passing game makes run game work.... running game also makes the passing game work... but one will make the other work

I don't think we were in field goal range when Jefferson took the sack.

we were. the bigger issue was calling a pass play on 2nd down after he'd damn near gotten sacked on 1st. run the ball, get closer, take the TO and kick the FG. but nooooooo.

can see it now, after the bama game, lsu switches to the triple option with crowton and newbomb at the helm......i know i'd trust crowton to run that system

How bout being a good enough judge of talent to realize BEFORE the season that qb play wasn't good enough to run the offense and a change was needed Immediately!!

He did here exactly what he did at Oregon, and after year one in FAILED MISERABLY!! Sound familiar?

Jefferson has looked f'ing clueless all f'cking year. He hasn't improved one iota from DAY F'ING ONE. I don't like saying anything bad about a player, but JJ is f'ing clueless. He'll NEVER be a winner at LSU - or any other school.

....and I see you have failed to improve on your position as village idiot......

I've been watching LSU football for 35 years and I've never cringed like I do when I see JJ in the pocket.

Watched any games last year? If you did and stick by that statement, then you have outed yourself.

No. He's bad because he's played like a clueless fool the entire f'ing year. He hasn't gotten any better from the first snap of the season.

He's never had it and never will.

JJ sucks and LSU has to figure out a way to hide his "suckage".

We don't know. But, what we do know is that we'll never win anything with JJ behind center.

The kid just doesn't have it, mentally or physically.

It's too damn painful watching JJ QB my alma mater.

You haven't explicitly said anything about the offensive line at all. Throughout the year, the failure of the interior linemen to get a push up front made it impossible to establish the run - see Florida game (though that was already mentioned).

and rofl @ this:

quote:

Should a coach have to tell an SEC caliber QB, "Look, a FG will win the game for us and we're in FG range, with no timeouts and little time left. So, don't take 10 seconds in the pocket and then take a sack. Just get rid of the ball or run with it if you can, if you don't see anyone open."

10 seconds? Really. (Watch from 2:47, and notice he gets sacked after 4 seconds.) Piss poor playcall not to run the clock out and kick a FG, and there's no way you can fault Jefferson for it.
