The SEC’s Real Weapon Against LSU Isn’t the Rulebook. It’s Fear.

This is “loss aversion” happening in real time.

The athletes won preliminary relief in court. Then the SEC raised the stakes by threatening penalties, Lane Kiffin’s suspension and even LSU’s membership.

Suddenly, everyone stopped debating the actual eligibility facts and started worrying about what LSU could lose.

That is “the chilling effect.” When the threat of punishment forces concessions before the punishment is imposed, the intimidation has already worked.

The facts did not change. The fear did.

Power does not prove the SEC is right. It only proves the SEC can make disagreement expensive.

I would imagine that the athletes would want to subpoena LK to testify (favorably) in their cases. That should flip Sankeys lid.

Yep. When we didn’t roster the players, the SEC knew they had the upper hand with the federal court case and that we would back down. And now they’re trying to whip us with it because they know we won’t leave the conference.
