We play like we have after Troy at the beginning of the season, and beat Mississippi State and Troy and we might be going to the playoffs.... horrible in hindsight. But hey I’m proud as hell of their turnaround.

Will be very interesting to see how the team finishes and whether the team that showed up Saturday will show up the rest of the way. Or will we play disinterested and play down to our competition.

If we win out the last four games that will be a pretty successful first year for Coach O. So much better than what could have been. He has to bump it up for next year though. This team was never a playoff level team no matter who is coaching

Troy was a team of destiny that night. The 72 dolphins couldn't have beaten them

Had orgeron not stuck his nose in his offensive coordinators offense, we wouldve probably beat state and troy. His ego cost him those 2 games.

Sad part is both of those losses. an 8-1 LSU is in the top 10 and maybe playoff, but Coach Eaux knows offense and had to dibble in that...

This is absolutely right. The Troy loss was a complete fluke, epitomized by the field goal that they kicked just before half time, after having time put back on the clock, that went through off the crossbar and ended up being the margin of victory. If we played Troy ten times--even at that point in the season--we would win nine of them. Mississippi State, on the other hand, was just better than we were AT THAT POINT. Given our youth, injuries, new offense, etc., we weren't set up well to win that game on the road in September. It's not like we barely lost, and a few tweaks would have changed the outcome. We got taken behind the woodshed, and we as fans just need to own up to that and tip our hat to the Bulldogs. Also, for those who say we lost that game because Orgeron interfered with the play calling, remember that our defense got pushed around pretty good in that one as well.

All that said, who knows if the team would have had the "come to Jesus" moment that they needed without hitting rock bottom in the Troy loss? All in all, if we can finish the season 10-3 (with a bowl win), this will be a reasonably successful year given this roster's relative youth and lack of depth on the lines.
