The amount of goal post moving and mental gymnastics to diminish anything Miles has accomplished is sad
I hear you, but it's more amusing than anything else to me. I enjoy the " mental gymnastics" I see some trying to use to piss on the LSU team. A team that has been more successful in the past decade than any who came before it. Posters who enjoy knocking such successful teams, are only chipping away at their own credibility.
I mean, how can any creditable poster put out that LSU didn't really recruit Mett or ask why Harris didn't get more playing time after his injury at Aub.
They are just silly, but whatever floats our individual boats.

He ranks
6th alltime in completion % (which usually goes down when your pass attempts go up)
Not that important a stat, unless it's really low. It can be artificially inflated if the coaches protect the QB with their play calling by letting him throw only safe passes with low risk. It's also inflated when the QB has little pocket presence and takes a lot of sacks instead of throwing the ball away. Finally, I would guess that this stat has a minimum attempts requirement, so the number who meet the requirement for the career stat may not be a whole bunch.
quote:
8th alltime in career qb rating
I'd guess Herb Tyler's QB rating was one of the all time highest, too. Again, this stat can be inflated, as it was with Herb Tyler, by protecting the QB with play calling.
quote:
9th alltime in yards per game
Finally, an actual meaningful stat. But again, I'd guess that there's a minimum number of games requirement. Of the number who meet that minimum, 9th probably isn't all that high.
I'm not saying he's the worst QB we've ever had, but you (or whoever it was calling him one of the greatest offensive players in LSU history) are going overboard.

That's a whole lot of text to say that you don't know the merit of your own argument.
Do you not understand it? Sorry, can't help you there. It's pretty simple and straightforward.

play, other than Mett, has been poor at best ever since LSU won the National Championshi
Our qb play in 2009 and 2011 was in no way poor.
2009 was our 9th best passing season in lsu history and our our 2011 season was our 11th best passing season in lsu history.
2009 SEC PASSING RANKINGS.
JJ finished in the top 5 in qb rating
JJ finished 2nd in completion %
9th best passing season in lsu history
2011 sec passing rankings
JLEE finished top 5 in qb rating
JLee finished top 5 in completion %
JLEE finished 2nd in td/int ratio
JJ finished top 6 in qb rating
JJ finished top 5 completion %
11th best passing season in lsu history.
In what reality was our 2009 and 2011 passing game, poor? This is what we are talking about. False myths are repeated over and over like it's a true narrative of the situation and it's no where near true.

Was in attendance when Jones threw 'the pass' against Ole Miss.
Then, you know how very fortunate we have been since 2000 with our HC hires.
Isn't it so much better to have a HC who wants to be here as opposed to one who didn't?

Absolutely, that game against Ole Miss, Jones throwing the winning pass as time ran out.
Was heavily sedated, thought I didn't need to go back to Tiger Stadium ... it doesn't get any better than this.
I WAS WRONG!

Except we know this didn't happen because of JJ'S yards per attempt being higher than Matt Flynns.
quote:Except we know this isn't true since JJ has lowest sacks per attempt ratio during Mile's tenure.

What? The more games you start the easier it is for your yards per game to drop.
Also there is a direct correlation between a teams success and their qbs qb rating.
It's amazing the amount of asterisks posters use to explain away JJ being one of the most productive qbs in lsu history. It's not like the guy started for 3 years. He started 2 and a half years worth of games.
He was a decent qb at lsu and he he surely didn't suck his entire career.
