Caller: "Coach, my dad drove through LSU back in 1958. He drove on Highland I think. He had a '41 Ford truck and we listened to the game on the radio in the living room. He never finished ninth grade but he loved LSU. He and my mom had intercourse one night and I was born nine months later. He showed me that '41 Ford. It was black and rode really rough. Not like these trucks nowadays. His dad, my grandad, worked at a store where Biff Jones and Bernie Moore used to come in. Coach, you know that track stadium is named after him."

Slightly off topic, but does anyone notice that when miles gives the 2 question interview going into or coming out of halftime, he completely fails to answer the questions? Sometimes his answer isn't even on topic?
I do not think that is just Miles a large number of coaches do that. Certainly most appear they do not want to answer any of the sideline reporters question and give them a WTF why are you speaking to me stare then generic answer (especially if they are losing going into half).

People actually think that his goal is to answer their questions.

He isn't concerned with sharing the gameplan with you (or the other team). He doesn't really care if someone wants Shep to throw the ball, or Ford to play. He's there because he has to be. That's all.

so why the frick even have it then, it's a waste of oxygen.

Well Tracey, we have to move the ball better on offense and execute and on defense we need to stop the run and defend the pass.

I wish someone would pull the ole switcheroo on them. "I'm calling in to talk about how well we did ... blah blah." And when they put them on the air, go all ranter. haha.

Exactly what I did.

I dunno but I can tell you the Aggie call in hour with big Sherm is the same way.

We played well, young guys did good, injury update, calls from aggies saying great fight coach get'em next week.

So lets not pretend it is just the Miles radio show that only follows this formula.

it's pretty much always been that way, no matter who the coach is. there's more a coach cannot say than what he can say. a coach avoids...

#1)discussing player specifics; disciplineary actions, health, or expected PT
#2)plays or game strategies
#3)mistakes made by specific players or coaches
#4)who he's thinkin' about firing or when

the problem is, the above is all fans want to hear. most fans are like racing fans; i come to see the crash, man.

why everyone continues to dissect the conversations and read between the lines is beyond me. the exact same discussions happen every week and every friggin' year. oh, and if anyone actually expects miles to comment on any of the juicy stuff mentioned above (besides coach speak bullshite/dodge), please contact me about certain water front property i own in florida.
