I'm not knocking Aranda.

he made some blunders this season.
And Buckeyes all remember Aranda's MONSTER defense at Wisconsin in 2014 - Pretty sure the score was Ohio State 59, Wisconsin Zero.

Using this logic, no one on here should post about anything involving lsu athletics.
How many times have you been paid to talk/post/write about lsu sports?

they generally don't.
99.9% of the information posted here is uniformed opinion

Not why Miles was fired.

How many multimillion dollar coach buyouts have I had to pay?
0
Alleva 1
And 2 more million plus OC buyouts.

Sorry, I don't see the problem. Guys are talking about dumping Orgeron for Aranda. Watching Aranda at Wisconsin left me feeling that he was a very good DC. But a world-beater? No.
Remember, the Buckeyes were an underdog in that 59-0 game.

Remember they went on to beat the shite out of Alabama and win a NC.
But it’s not like there was an enormous talent gap or anything.
Or that Aranda was trying to stop Tom Herman and Urban Meyer, with 3 stars.

Why was miles fired?
Youre saying if we win against wisky and auburn miles is still fired?
Please say miles was fired for offense and then defend this offense.
Miles was fired for wins and losses and nothing else. You can say if he had changed offenses it wouldve helped us win and he wouldnt have been fired but miles is still here of he wasnt losing 3 games a year.

If this was a favorite coach of the Rant no one would say a word. The anti O folks have an agenda that they cant deviate from, they are married to it.
I was anti O, I couldnt fathom he being the LSU coach. But he is. He has done a pretty good job and continues to address the deficits on the team. I dont know if the Brady hire will make a difference, but he is trying to address things.
The coaching staff is solid, the recruiting class is good, there are no scandals or anything else around the program. We were number 6 this year. Facts are facts.

Miles was only fired because he promised to fix the passing game.
If he went 4-0 he’d have been fired because we weren’t passing the ball
If we threw 300 yards a game it was have been fine to go 0-4
If he went 4-0 he’d have been fired because we weren’t passing the ball
If we threw 300 yards a game it was have been fine to go 0-4

Maybe. But I doubt it. Losing 5 of 9 with no offense was the problem.

It's exactly what Alleva told Miles to do, and he didn't do anything. In fact it looks like it got worse.

With all deference, I struggled with news of the extension at first as my initial reaction posts will indicate because
-it essentially functioned as a stamp of approval for O's first full-time season outcomes thus far which resembled the outcomes of the 5 preceding seasons which got Miles fired
-believed it was a little early to extend with the upcoming 2019 season amounting to make or break with the accompanying expectations for the team and our top ten recruiting class, many things appear to indicate we're supposed to be a top ten team entering the season
-quite simply, I'm tired of finishing 10-3, 9-4, if we're, as a program, showing we're not putting the pursuit of championships as top priority then we shouldn't even play big-time college football anymore, period, point-blank
It was a point where I wasn't even entertaining any alternative arguments that may disagree bc I felt we should've waited before making such a substantive move then a friend of mine raised the recruiting point and that the only thing we should be concerned about was the buyout amount (fair point there) and the light turned on in my brain and it made sense: we've made such a great breakthrough with this class and are doing well with 2020's that this extension assures recruits (who know of O's great reputation with his players and recruiting acumen) that for the immediate time being (2 years presumptively) he will be the HC of LSU and that means a lot to recruits psychologically at this stage in the game with how we're trending upward. The last thing we should do as a program is first stifle then destroy the momentum we've built up over the last year recruiting-wise, would be AD malpractice. As much as people like to argue that the program sells itself and all that, who the head coach is of that squad naturally really matters to players and they gravitate to that person and what they're selling, he becomes a surrogate father to them away from home. In that respect, they really do commit to a coach and this assures them that Coach O will be their coach at least for the next couple of years, not only for 2019 with everything else up in the air. The facts are simple: players love playing for Coach O and as long as we don't make the buyout detrimental for the long-term, I'll allow the extension at this time. Now and always, Geaux Tigers.

Absolutely wrong. HC's make promises to recruits and families that often go out 4 or 5 years. If the shcool doesn't have 5 year;s worth of confidence in their HC, how the hell can a recruit's family have confidence.

According to Guilbeau.
But there is a reason Les was fired after a LOSS to Auburn and not just when our WRs couldn’t pass.
2015 and 2016 were supposed to be our years and Miles squandered them.
Starting 10-0 and losing 3 to drop out of playoff contentionz
Then being preseason #5 and losing 2 games and all title hopes before October. He was done.
We’re here to win championships above everything else. Everything else are a means to an end. Passing offense, rushing offense, defense. If you win a NC it doesn’t matter if any one of these is lacking.
We averaged like 150 passing yards a game in 2011 and it wasn’t getting Les fired.

meyer and Herman didn't have a lot to do with that offense (but Herman took full credit for it). It was the Cardale Jones, Zeke Elliott, and WR show. It was more like sandlot football than anything else. Jones had 1 week of practice with the first team before Wisconsin.

Between 2008-2015, we had two good years throwing the football.
In 2014 and 2015, we were ranked 109 and 108 in passing.
We lost three in a row, averaged 16 points a game that month with three NFL type RBs on the roster.
We threw for 2900 yards this year, the passing game has improved.

That’s the thing about system QBs
They’re interchangeable.

Depending upon the buyout i agree.
The buyout will be tell us if this is a shite contract. I dont mind the extension im just saying it in no way helps our recruiting and doesnt create actual stability.
