The one play that really makes the case for Harris was the touchdown strike to Dupre. They were in the red zone or thereabouts and his initial read was covered or pressure forced him out of the pocket.....there were clear running lanes for a first down or significant yardage. Most young QBs in a panic situation like this tuck the ball in and run for positive yardage (not necessarily a bad play....but read on). Harris kept his vision downfield and just as he was approaching the line of scrimmage while rolling out, he throws a strike to Dupre in the endzone. Touchdown. It was a very accurate throw as well.....Dupre was covered short and to the inside. The throw was high and outside.....either TD or incompletion.

Say what you want about the competition....that's valid in this case, but the play as a whole tells me the kid gets it and he is accurate on his throws. No doubt Harris will endure growing pains during SEC action. The kid deserves the QB job.....take the lumps this year and hopefully contend for a title in the two years that follow.

You play the QB who gives you the best chance to win. Harris does that. Let him take the majority of snaps with the 1's in practice and lead this team

Harris throws on the run as well as any QB I've ever seen. He threw two strikes last night, one while running to his left and one while running right. That adds a dimension to his game that opposing defenses will have trouble dealing with. He is much more mobile than Mett was and a much better passer when he is out of the pocket.

Harris gets a little deeper in his drop back which gives him more time to read the coverage. It also give his O-line more leverage. His technical training has paid off.

Excellent point. I noticed that in the MSU game also. Probably part of the reason that the O- line blocking looks better when Harris is in the game.

Another play also where Harris rolled left and was hit no less than three times but dove into the endzone to score. A defender grabbed him by the legs and pulled him backwards but it didn't phase him at all. Playa!!
