By your logic, every coach in the nation is a failure except Saban. If that's your assertion, at least it's consistent with your logic
You don't understand logic... No one is suggesting that there is only one success and a multitude of failures.
What I am suggesting is that it is ridiculous to toss out the best person before conducting comparisons.

quote My only issue with Les is the way he speaks to the media. He sounds like a complete moron most of the time. Just like this morning I listened to him babble something about LSU wanting to run the ball but the need to be balanced but I couldn't figure out the hell he was saying.
I have to agree with this. I can't imagine that things would be much different when he talks to the players.. I've that the players love him and that they play hard for him BUT if can HE get them motivated when they're not motivated enough (like against Ole Miss for ex)

Chavis is the weakest link, not Miles!! He's had extremely talented players to work with in the past. He may have some now but they haven't shown improvement as the season's progressed.

I have said this before. Nobody and I do mean nobody from Louisiana has any right to criticize how someone else speaks.
Nobody that has come up through the Louisiana public education system should ever criticize anyone else.

it is getting just as old as losing to the Gumps.
I get as upset with Miles' blunders as the next guy. But the FACT is(and this really is a fact) that Les beets the Gumps more than anyone else. By a wide margin. What other coach has beaten Saban 3 times?

Trying to be reasonable on here is like running into a wall over and over again...the effort is there but you're not getting anywhere

Got it

Would you say the defense is well coached this year?
It's the same it has been coached for the last few years. These kids are the ones blowing coverages in the Georgia and Ole Miss games, not Chavis. That's on the players.

There's just been too much stubbornness and bone-headed plays on CLMs part to justify that huge salary.
I don't really get that poeple call him stubborn. He was quick to get rid of Malleveto. Got rid of Crowton when he got stale, and brought in Cam to run a much much more aggressive offense. Unfortunately, it happened in a year where we lost 8 defensive starters.

Probably not, but he didn't. So it's pointless to think about.
In all fairness, everything ever written on Tigerdroppings is pretty much pointless

Is this another Imokaywithmediocrity thread?

You must feel great about yourself, then...
Except, that deep down you don't and can't. Deep down you know that you are tricking yourself into thinking highly of yourself.
By your logic, I'm the greatest basketball player ever because I can beat average high school kids.
Miles isn't beating average high school kids. He's beating his peers. This is FBS competition, and overall he's performed brillantly by comparision.
You probably compare unfavorably to the top 1% in your profession. Does that mean you can't ever say that you're doing a good job?
You hold Miles to a standard you don't hold yourself to.

When the OP claims Miles to be "A very good coach" then I think it is very relevant.
You and others who answered the question said Miles would not be as successful had he followed DiNardo rather than Saban. In that statement you are admitting that some of Miles' success is indeed because of Saban.
The OP also claims Saban to "likely be the greatest HC in the history of the NCAA".
Is it really fair to conclude Miles is "A very good coach" if some of his success is indeed because he followed Saban ("likely the greatest HC in the history of the NCAA")?
The OP also concludes that it isn't fair to compare Miles to Saban. Since Miles followed Saban at LSU, it seems like he would be the most relevant coach to compare to Saban in my opinion.

.....then by that logic, hes better than Saban. Considering he has had a better record at LSU. Amirite?
My contention is Les is doomed to always fall short unless he beats saban on the way to an SEC and NCAA championship.
Understand this, I am not happy with the current state of affairs and think Les needs to get it straight. Im just trying to be fair.
