But its simply unjust to paint your idea of him as a coach with that limited of a scope.
I think I understand what you are saying, but the JJ/JL saga lasted a long time. It is a very big window into LM's psyche, IMO. There is no rational explanation of that entire sordid affair. I, as many others, do not accept the official horse sh*t spouted by LM, et al.
It is far more than not playing JL (or ZM) in the BS BCSCG. It speaks to the lack of developing Jefferson who was the same, maybe worse, player on Jan 9 that he was when he arrived, unheralded, on campus. LM could not see that Jefferson was completely unable to read a defense. Yet, he stuck with him no matter what.
How can anyone explain why Jefferson got all the playing time in those blowout wins following the Game of the Century? I cannot. Mett could have benefited a good deal from in game experience. That is assuming LM had completely bailed on JL. Fine. But he had better have a passing game or he is not going to beat Satan again. I said as much before and even went so far as to inform any who would listen that if this team did not win the BS BCSCG, it would be 100% attributable to dreadful QB play.
I have been vindicated, but would rather have been completely wrong. I wished Jefferson the MVP, but he was the goat instead. Something is wrong with LM.

Like blow a 21-0 first quarter lead.
Que LSU vs. Tennessee 2005. LSU was up 24-3 going into the 4th qtr.

I was right about JJ too, but sure as didn't wish JJ to be the MVP. He never deserved anything close w/ his shitty attitude.
The UGA game was kinda perfect for me....LSU won, and JJ sucked like normal. But in his mind, he played great like he did vs. Bama.

Miles willingness to stick w/ him the whole time is evidence he doesn't deserve his current salary.

Spurrier? Seriously? Guy did a heck of a job at Florida, but until recently he hasn't done much at SC. This was his 7th year at SC and the first time he's had a double digit winning season.
Stoops? He's washed up. Peterson? We don't know what to think. At the end of the day he does play in the Preschool Conference of the Great West. Meyer? Saban took his mojo in 2009 and we have yet to see him regain it and Saban....he's legit. Same with Patterson.

Please excuse me for buttin in .Name one coach in the history of college football that went 13-1 against opposition as LSU had this year .

i also think these guys are better or equal to miles
dantoni, pelini, beilima (SP? wisconsin), brian kelly, chip kelly, petrino, richt.
a lot of people laugh at some of these guys but they constantly win more games other would with less talent. Dantoi and Pelini for instance dont have near the athletes.
i think petrino will continue to get better as he recruits his guys and i like richt more than most. he has been very consistent and they continually seem to have bad injuries. Brian Kelly will bring ND back

I understand what you are saying. All i want is someone to tell me who in the history of college football has beaten a better schedule than LSU and miles did in 2011.I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything.Iwould really like to know

Wait what?
You are taking miles hate to a new level man. Jesus.
How can you people call themselves fans of lsu yet make themselves so miserable and continually shite on a successful coach. I swear some of you idiots that associate yourself with my alma mater are making me feel like you are going to weaken the value of my degree because of the level of stupidity.

More like insane compulsion than willingness. To me this speaks to whatever fatal coaching flaw he has. 37 days to prepare for the biggest game of his career and all he can do is roll out Jefferson. Pathetic really. This quality will surface to scuttle LSU again, no question.

Here's a few.
1987: Miami (FL)
1990: Colorado
1997: Michigan
2005: Texas
LSU's 2011 schedule was tough, and I'm not taking anything away from it, but if you look at the entire schedule as a whole compared to the ones I listed, they are equally as tough as those. I stopped at 1987...I'm sure there are more!

Exactly.
Coaches with some prior success get complacent and lulled into an artificial comfort zone, one that says they have years of job security ahead for their past success.
I remember an answer from DiNardo to a question posed to him (in an interview) during the time just before his precipitous downfall and firing. The question was, "how do you feel about the state of the program".
His answer was close to, "the program is in great shape; I'm totally comfortable with where it's headed". (he said this despite a sliding record and perceived mishandling of key assistant coaches).
I do think *CLM thinks he has enough "equity" to borrow against in his experimenting with the team, and taking unnecessary risks. I have to believe this because the alternative means I don't completely understand what I am seeing.

So, Lee Chatelain, you peered back at 24 yrs of college football, about 2500 schedules, and you found FOUR comparable seasons.
You just showed how exceptional Miles must have been to do something like that.
