I don't believe this for a second.
He won a power struggle last November. To a guy with Miles' ego, that makes him invincible.
Rightly or wrongly, he's not worried about his job in the least.
Is he right? If that's so, then LSU football is well and truly fricked for a very long time.

There's not a coach worth his weight that will change his coaching philosophy at the request of an AD.
True. Any coach worth his weight will change his philosophy when it's not working without having to be asked. A coach who has to be asked won't change it under any circumstances.

Being able to say that he will have an experienced, solid senior QB to lead the 2017 squad
I think this claim has lost its luster. Miles has had the primary starting QB from the previous year on the roster in 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016. That's seven years out of his 12 as head coach at LSU. He's gotten improved production from that returning starter twice in those seven years, in 2006 (when Jimbo Fisher was coaching Jamarcus Russell for the fourth year) and in 2013 (when Cam Cameron was coaching Zach Mettenberger for the third year). In the other five seasons, the returning starter either didn't perform as well as he had the previous year or lost the starting job to someone else, or both.
Most coaches can credibly claim that an experienced returning starter at QB will be improved in the upcoming season. Les Miles is not one of those coaches.

This whole thing is moot. LSU has consistently brought in 4* QBs under Miles. They can't all be bad...

All of what you said is true. However, history indicates that we will lose at least two more games - though realistically, we will probably lose at least four more games unless Etling is truly dynamic.
At this point, LSU is not going to progress and reassert itself as a national contender under Miles, IMO. Of course, I thought that in 2010 too, in all fairness.
We don't know what we don't know. We do know that Miles has continually struggled to find and develop QBs. There is ZERO reason to believe that will ever change.
As long as LSU struggles with QB play, it will struggle to be an SEC and National contender.
It just so happens that the best young coaching prospect since Urban Meyer happens to be right next door in Houston too.
For that reason, if there is any shot at Herman, Miles needs to go, and be gone quickly. He knows that it is the end.

Miles creates these QB controversies himself with an out-dated, overly simplistic offense that is relatively fairly easy to scheme against. It's not Harris, he is not the first QB to get worse in this offensive system. This scheme hurts QB development. It seems the longer a QB is in this system, the worse they play, with Mettenberger being the one and only exception.
