He said in SEC play, the best you can hope for is two great games where everything clicks, and will always play two games where you play like shite. He said every good team typically wins the games you play great but the great teams find a way to win the games you play like shite.
Winning ugly is something every championship team has to do, even the 2019 Tigers had the auburn and Texas games

I knew Gene Stallings personally when I lived in Tuscaloosa. A really great coach and a fine individual. He was one of the Junction Boys under the Bear at aTm.

Everyone remembers the 10-2 season where Kevin Faulk was an All-American as an AP Back and we won our bowl game.
Nobody remembers 35-34 over Houston to start the year or the 10-7 bowl game W over Clemson in Atlanta to end it.
The record is all that matters.

Weren’t we down like 3 or 4 tds late in that game? If that’s the game, I remember Kevin Faulk just taking over.

Sat out the first half. Beasted in the 2nd. Houston’s TB in that game won a ring on Brady’s first Patriots Super Bowl squad.

The motto is don't judge a team by one game or even 2. Good teams can play bad games but the really good teams overcome that bad play. And 2019 is the perfect example. The GOAT struggled in 2 games.
