Hey man, why don't you give it a rest. Nobody gives a shite about your Yankee arguments. Any student of the founding fathers should know that they would never force states to remain in a union that they voluntarily joined in the first place. That was the very sort of thing they fought a revolution over. They were first and foremost states rights advocates, and the so called civil war crushed states rights forever.

I think we can respect and honor the lineage of the Tigers name without falling into neo-confederate stupidity / nostalgia / romanticism / call it what you will.

I for one have enjoyed reading this discussion of history from both perspectives. Despite old rivalries - I am glad that the Union remains and that we are all now members of the Tiger Nation, the Buga Nation, and the United States of America.
On a more fitting note - I ask the all important question ...
"How 'bout dem Tigers?"

Third, the Union army did not invade the South. The southern states may have illegally insurrected, but they were still part of the Union. Thus, by definition, the Union cannot and did not invade the Union.
If true, that was an unconstitutional act.
However not true. The South exercised in Constitutional and moral right to secede. Just like their Grandfathers did in 1776

When the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union proved to be too weak, the Congress called a convention for the "sole and express purpose of revising the Articles of Confederation."
Except that they didn't revise it. They decided it could not be fixed, so they canned it all together to write a new one. To form a new Union. This why they met in secret.
Thus the old "perpetual" one was abolished.
Proof of this- States did not have to ratify the new Constitution, they had a choice as a sovereign entity.

Never understood why people get so up in arms (pun intended) over the Civil War. It was a bad thing. It's over. Why it started or ended just doesn't matter.
