Pretty impressive for UT to be top 10 in scoring D despite the poor field position

Dude, his scoring defense was helped because we played such offensive juggernauts as Auburn, Wyoming, Northern Illinois, and UCLA.

Ok..How's this.. 7 of our opponents were ranked in the BOTTOM 14 of the nation when it came to scoring offense.. Of all the teams playing Div-1 football 7 were ranked in the bottom 14...

Twist it, spin it, argue about "HOW HARD HIS SYSTEM IS TO LEARN"..He ain't all that..He used to pad his stats against Ole Miss, Kentucky, Memphis and Vandy..Hell, at the end he couldn't even do that..

Now..You have "THE CHIEF" and since he Carried the load ( we never had any offense)..then you guys should just kick the shite out of everybody since you have "The Miracle Worker"..

You will be cussing him more than a "Rented Mule" before the season is up..and just wait until you get in a "TIGHT GAME"..."Old Third and Long is alive and well in Baton Rouge...

What the Hell happened against Air Force?

They came in running that Flexbone and Chavis didn't know where to shite or go blind..They could have kicked an extra point and tied it but went for two and Xavier Mitchell made a game saving tackle and we won by one..and everybody was talking about how HIGHLY recruited this quarterback was..etc, etc, etc,...Get used to it..

[quote]His stats are VERY MISLEADING. Always padded them against cupackes. And people harp on last year. Our offense was so awful ..teams were always starting on our side of the fifty..he wasn't going to give up TOO MANY LONG DRIVES..

I was not talking about SCORING DEFENSE..I was talking about Yardage he gave up... 7 teams we played were in the bottom 14 on the NCAA in scoring..

Check out his passing yardage and rushing yardage he gave up..NOT A LOT and they were ranked very high..but when teams are starting on YOUR SIDE of the 50 ...you don't have very far to travel..SO NO he didn't give up a lot of yards on the ground or in the air..

But check out the third down stats...10th out of 12 in the SEC..and Sacks..10th out of 12 in the SEC... LINK

Maybe I am just hoping for the best but if your offense sucks and your d is always on the field that will wear down a defense and shift the numbers in a negative way, not to mention just the number of possesions the other team has.

A Tennessee fan ripping Chavis? I don't know whether to shite or go blind.

Tennessee would have won no more than three games without his defense last year and he was always bailing out a inpet, turnover prone offense AND had to deal with the fact that Fulmer just wasn't recruiting or motivating his team like he used to.

I've watched a lot of Tennessee football. While watching them, I've thought that their offense is poorly coached(as was the case any year Cutcliffe wasn't there), that they were playing flat and uninspired, that they were simply outmatched, that they weren't in very good shape, but I never, ever watched Tennessee play and thought that their defensive coaching was terrible.

So did you see ANYTHING different than you saw Saturday night against Washington?..Dude..Chavis and his third down packages have ALWAYS SUCKED..and his secondaries have always under performed ( POOR TACKLING) leaving receivers WIDE OPEN..

Cutcliffe was their through the Manning years..Chavis couldn't do squat with Florida..Turned over the reigns to Randy Sanders and FULMER WOULD NOT LEAVE SANDERS alone...He kept MEDDLING..Had to hire Cutcliffe back in 2006 to run and offense and be "TASK MASTER"..

But go back and show me IN A BIG GAME against a RIVAL opponent where a John Chavis team got a sack, an int. or caused a fumble to stop a drive..YOU can't because he was dropping 8 and rushing 3...PLAYING NOT TO LOSE..

And as far as UT not winning more than 3 games because of Chavis..they won 5 and 7 of those teams we played were in the bottom 14 on the NCAA when it came to scoring...

I told LSU fans what to expect from Chavis and was I wrong? No, all I got were these stats read to me about where his defenses were ranked..Just keep up with LSU and Chavis..and see how "WELL COACHED THE BAYOU BENGALS DEFENSE" is at the end of the season...
