First, we have no clue whether he's going to come to LSU. Second, he has played in seven games, 29/37, averaging 41 yards per game.

The hype machine has been relentless, and no one knows if he is better or worse than the quarterbacks we already have. You also have no idea how having some outsider coming in (similar to a lateral transfer at work) will affect team morale.

If LSU cannot recruit him and he goes somewhere else, O will have yet another excuse for not doing well in the upcoming year.

He was recruited by Tom Herman to Ohio State.

I'm reserving judgment until I hear Coach Will Wade's thought on it.

I'm convinced nobody on this board ever played sports. Or if they did it was in this new world of everyone gets a trophy. The locker room isn't like the real world.

If LSU cannot recruit Burrows and he goes somewhere else, Orgeron's fans will say "Burrows read Tigerdroppings and wouldn't come to LSU and that is why O did not succeed."

The bar is incredibly low and we're grabbing at hope. The news on our current qbs has been underwhelming so roll the dice

I hope this is not the case. We look kind of desperate in the way the Burrows situation is being handled.

The fanbase is desperate for a passing game. The push for a transfer says the coaching staff believes the current crop isn't the answer

First, we have no clue whether he's going to come to LSU.

He's only interested in Cincinnati and LSU. Cincinnati is the hometown choice and has had great QB play lately, but they already have a solid starting QB. LSU does not, and can bring his exposure to the next level. I like our chances.

In cleanup duty, sure. Have you seen OSU's QB depth chart in the last 5 years? Did you watch our Spring Game? Did you watch his spring game highlight videos at OSU? He looked awesome.

I watched the Spring Game. I've watched LSU QB play since 2008. I know he's better than what we've got. The hype machine is churning because not a lot of people are excited about this upcoming football season. It seems we're just counting down the days, through throwaway seasons, until Ed O is out of here. This type of news brings a second wind. An oasis of hope. A reason to be excited about football season again. I love that we're looking forward to the possibilities of this football season again. How could you not? I won't even address the weak argument of team morale, except for this: athletes want to WIN.

What are you even saying here? We are recruiting him. He's visiting this weekend.

Again, what point are you trying to make here? Tom Herman is a fantastic talent evaluator and developer. And there isn't any mutual interest between Burrow and Texas.

I'm honestly shocked that you don't support Orgeron, because you supported a basketball coach who like O, had no business getting a head coaching job here.

We're going from having Purdue's 3rd string qb start for us to having Ohio St.'s 3rd string qb start for us. Nothing wrong with fan's being excited.

Burrow seems talented. The highlights look good but OSU offensive line is a lot better than LSU. The QB's we have on the roster could look just as good with that kind of pocket. If he wants to come. Great! Let him compete with the rest to see who the starter will be. By the end of fall camp two of our QB will transfer.

I see this as being very similar to not recruiting a QB (as a high schooler) because you already have one on roster.

Or one recruit getting mad (Felipe Franks) because you are also recruiting others.

It's a self-defeating mentality, in both instances.

In my mind, anyone on the roster that gets angry because we're recruiting Burrows is suspect from the "team player" aspect. Yes, people have friends and biases, and might not like it. But as far as transferring, twitter rants, etc. that's something that should NOT be a consideration for Staff.

That being said...
Yeah, the hype is getting close to being overboard. Every programs seems to have the "backup fever" (not just LSU) and this is just a derivative of that. And we're just about in that territory on the way to "savior" type posts.

But hype here =/= hype in the ops building. As far as feelings and being disgruntled, zero fricks given (see above).

OP, youre right. O doesnt have the skill set to get this kid enrolled at LSU.
Calm down pumpers, they'll be another guy down the road to get your hopes up with and get let down again. Dont waste it all on this one.

I was agreeing with everything in your post until I got to the part where you slyly turned it into just another O-bashing thread.
