Same here. I work 110 hours a week on bullshite. And I adopted my hometown, alma mater as a release, with the hope that I could find something solid and impartial, where the guys I've met on campus - the guys I knew since they were highschool prospects could have an opportunity to give it there all for 3.5 hours once a weekend, and show what they were made of - and at least have their hard work go towards something. This is literally robbery. I've been robbed of my hard-earned possessions before and it feels no different now.
FAIL
Is this for real? Not even a chance to close out a drive?

To the author of this Article: Chris Warner and his ignorant quote:
"I want to preface my comments about the many bad officiating calls in this game by saying that I believe the better team on the field won."
LSU has been improving with each game throughout the year. You'd be hard pressed to say that they would not be able to compete with any team in the country. If you remember watching this LSU-BAMA game, LSU was in position to win until arguably the team's best player, Patrick Peterson, came out with cramps--thus resulting in a break for the Crimson Tide's inept offense. Bama was able to win through their fortune of several key injuries to the LSU team. From starting quarterback to tailback to an abundance of injuries on the o-line and d-lines, it would've been a shame had bama not capitalized on this, regardless of the poor officiating (especially when LSU converted a key 4th down, Lee to Randle. and possibly the worst call in the history of all LSU-Bama games--peterson INT). Despite the loss I was somewhat impressed with the overall performance of the team--atleast we know now that brandon taylor is shoddy in pass coverage.

We do not know each other, but were I your friend, as a friend I would suggest the evidentiary leap from the SEC office being in Birmingham, through the unverified innuendo of "a majority of SEC officials are from Alabama" is a bit paranoid and somewhat irresponsible as a journalist. If you actually have a story and are willing to do the research to support what you wish us to simply assume, please get to work and illucidate us. After you acknowledged Alabama likely would have won anyhow and perhaps more importantly, pointed out failure to examine the physical on field evidence, I decided to offer this constructive criticism. Best, Rob

Me too, I'm pretty much done for a while. I'll watch the LSU games and follow a few other teams around the country I have connections too, but I'm done watching random games, just don't have interest any more. We might as well be watching Monday Night Raw.
count me in - I gave up on professional sports long ago because it started resembling big-business-gone-hollywood more than the sports events that I grew up addicted to.
I love competition - fair and agressive competition.
I can accept bad breaks - this is symbolic of life - sports don't build character - sports reveals character.
But when you smother the competition aspects of the game with the desire to make money - with a venue of exhibitionism - with anythig that detracts from fair and aggressive play of the game, I lose interest.
That happened to professional sports. Now it is happening to college football.
I am back to watching high school volleyball. Nothing there but genuine competition and I love the hell out of it.

How is the SEC doing everything they can do by scheduling to make sure that Florida and Bama go undefeated? I don't get this logic.

Man, I didn't know that eleventy billion false starts were a part of a officiating conspiracy and not part of a lack of discipline/hostile environment. Or not having enough men on the line of scrimmage, or running into a punter, or an obvious intentional grounding. Yeah...the refs took it to LSU without reason.
LSU is one hell of a team, but the team as a whole got beat up a bit by a team off a bye and with something to prove. Is Alabama more talented? Hell no. But they seem to be in better conditioning at this point. Jordan Jefferson is going to be a baller. So enough with the officiating: Jarret Lee wasn't going to lead some 4th quarter miracle even had that play been ruled an interception. Finish the year strong, and we'll see you next year!

+100000 except the part about the best team winning. We played the major part of that game with out 4 of our best players and still had a good chance to win in the 4th quarter. We get that INT and some of the other rotten calls and the end of the game and many of the statistics are different.

well at least you didn't copy somebody else's quote in your response to me
????????? didn't ask that question or bring up that point to my knowledge.
I don't think there is a conspiracy hadned down from on high.
I do think the officials have personal biases that they are acting on.
They are not trained to be totally objective - not on purpose, just from human nature.
I see a lot of things with my P/G glasses and I know it. I back off and try to be as objective as I can.
But I would never consent to referreeing a game between LSU and Alabama - I know I am not strong enough to be totally objective - and even if I was, I would not expect anyone else to believe me.
So - the fault I see in the SEC is in not policing the officiating crews. They need to have an investigative unit dispassionately analyzing game calls and making sure there is not pattern of bias.
For instance, is it really evidenced by video analysis that if you formed a team called "alabama opponent" that team will be the most penalized team in the nation??? I don't have a link for this - may be bullshite - but that is the kind of analysis that ought to be done to see IF there is any 'favoritism' seeping into an officiating teams calls.
This is where the SEC is weak - perhaps all conferences are equally weak. I only follow SEC football.
eta - when there is a big disparity in calls for an important game, I think the SEC should analyze game video for obvious "no-call" instances on the favored team for similar infractions.
for instance, pass interference should work the same way for both teams. Holding should work the same way for both teams. etc.
In baseball, one official has a 'wider strike zone' than the other ump. No big deal as long as the strike zone doesn't get big or little depending on who is at bat.
I can see a coach saying - "OK - they are gonna call holding if you touch the jersey - so be careful out there."
But that shite gets old when YOU are getting flagged for touching nylon, when your tackles are getting pulled down by their jerseys on every play with 'no-call.'

Florida and Bama have had creampuff OOC schedule with exception being Va Tech, The only threat to their teams was LSU but LSU gets both of them AFTER their bye week.
Get it now?

This was a great response. I always say, anytime an official is going to impact a sporting event, from PeeWee soccer to MLB, I don't care if they (the officials) are bad, just be consistent. What we saw with Meth Ref and his crooked crew, was anything but consistent. From our opening drive where the spot clearly cost us a first down right to the end, the Gumps got the home cooking.

Remember the 2006 Auburn game. The fix was in for LSU to get beat.

Excellent! To continue your analogy a bit. The refs are like the Bond rating companies in the current financial fiasco. ALL those CDO's were "AAA Loans" weren't they.

Your rant is extremely long on opinion, rumor and innuendo and very short on facts and research to back your opinions up. We all know about Patrick Peterson, but surely there is something you can come up with to back up all your other assertions. I've had more informative and educational opportunities listening to Sean Hannity.
For someone so educated and so credentialed, I am surprised that we couldn't get more than an SEC slime piece.

What are the consequences for the Instant Replay Official(s) in the booth who make the judgement call to uphold or overturn a call on the field? The officials on the field are going to make mistakes, often at times, because they are human and it's a hard job. Let's be fair about that. But, when the Video Replay clearly shows what 10 million other people are seeing and the call stands when wrong, then there must be severe consequences established (fines, suspensions, bans, etc) that will put the pressure on the booth to make the right call. The way it is now, you blow it, then see you next Saturday. As with anything in life, there must be hard consequences in place to get the correct behavior you demand.
Having said that, I believe LSU played a great game, we made some mistakes of our own which cost us the game, and we caught the injury bug. You don't beat a good team like Alabama when all that happens on top of the bad officiating and replay reviews.

I also wanted to comment on the broadcasters. They are also biased in protecting their contract to broadcast the SEC games, so you get the same bullshite. How can you respect the guy calling the game when he just won't call it like he sees it. You say, wow, that call was horrible when it is. You say, wow, great call when it is. Too many times, they just hold their tongue or dance around it so they don't criticize the officials during the call of the game. Bad officiating is part of the game, and the commentators should call it like they see it. This also helps keep officiating honest.

So much made of Peterson's interception, so little about the spot of the ball on the 3rd play from scrimmage. Instead of 1st and 10 LSU is 3 and out.
That spot forbode all.
And since when is a 5 yard penalty 5.5 yards. Or spearing a QB a non call. Or grabbing a facemask of an O line a non call.
I believe Bama has a high ratio of penalties per game, just not SEC games. Tennesse 13 penalties, Bama 1.
It's not the calls against LSU; it's the non calls for Bama.
