UGA, Bama, TAMU are virtual locks. UF is likely and TCU/Ole Miss are toss ups.

Not that it makes much difference, but how many of theirs were seniors.

To lose all these juniors seems unreal.

UF and TAMU are at home. We will step up against both. Might lose 1. To call TAMU a lock is hilarious. They will be worse next year and we beat them this year at their place because Chief made adjustments to a contain gameplan that stifled JM.

UGA lost their whole defense too, their best WR's and might lose Aaron Murray. Should be close.

We beat TCU.

Ole Miss is the upset I think we lose.

I am calling 2 losses to Ole Miss and Bama.

Im absolutely with you.

LSU still beats TCU.

LSU still beats a&m at home.

If Murray declares I feel extremely great about at UGA. If not then I'm at 50/50.

Ole Miss almost beat us this year and they have beaten us twice in the last 4 years. They are playing great offense up there and return their entire improved defense with the #1 recruit in the country at DE added to them.

They will be very, very tough to beat in Oxford next year.

ETA: They return 19 of 22 starters. 10 on defense, 9 on O.

I think TAMU is a lock because of inexperience on D. We beat them this year because we had the fastest DE duo in CFB, so we contained JFF's rushing ability. We're going to be starting a ton of fresh guys on D.. this will be much harder to accomplish. It would take a huge step up from our D-line to beat them IMO.

We know it's pretty much virtually impossible for our offense to win a shootout with them, so the only way we can win is by containing JFF.

From what I understand, Murray is staying. Makes a huge difference. Guy is a stud IMO. Same deal with the inexperienced D here.. We might be able to pull this one out (Maybe Mett goes off on his old team? IDK).

Don't count your wins before they're in the column, mate.

From who?

All my UGA friends think he's gone. He graduated LAST YEAR and lost his favorite WR and TE targets. They are also just as young as us on defense next year and this is a weak QB class.

I hear what the poster of this rant is saying, it is disappointing to see so many juniors leave early it can devoid the team with a lack of leadership which can be crucial. I can totally understand when a Mingo & Montgomery go as both are projected in the first 2 rounds of the draft and also Logan because of where he might draft. But Minter if he has another year of 100+ tackles it will improve his draft stock tremendously. Reid makes sense I guess, even though he didn't play up to his 2011 standards I pretty much figured he was gone this year anyway. Simon I have no clue what he is thinking, but he definitely could improve his draft status with another year.

Did LSU do a fantastic job this year recruiting, absolutely. But I am still worried losing all that junior leadership on the defensive side of the ball will hurt us next year no matter how much talent they have behind them.

but i don't buy the "just reload" theory. experience and leadership (along with a break or two) is essential to win the SEC and an NC. i hate to be negative nellie but i am forecasting a nine or ten win season next year, esp since i don't think we have a real leader at qb.

Some of you are such miserable pussies. Bama sure didn't have much trouble this season with all the leadership and experience that they lost. I'm not sure what everyone is so worried about. We lost a lot of talent, but we still have a ton of talent. We were expecting to lost most everyone that has officially declared to this point.

Our LBs will be strong as hell next year. Our secondary will be VERY strong if Loston comes to his senses and comes back. Eugene, Martin, Collins, Mills, and Loston would all have plenty of experience and incoming Tre White should be really good.

The DL is the only spot where we lose a ton of experience and depth, but we will get to see Hunter and Rasco who looked very good this in his limited PT. Incoming freshman Gilmore and Beckwith both look like they could see some significant PT as well.

Difficult to win against a 4 year starter with a young D and an inefficient offense..

We had this same discussion yesterday. The key factor to overcoming these personnel losses on defense is being able to lean on the offense. That is why Bama was able to overcome their losses on D. Their offense can carry their team when needed. There is low confidence that the LSU offense can carry the team next season, and you can't blame people for feeling that way.

The TCU game will go a long way in determining our season. Our defense needs some time to settle in, which means the offense will have to carry us through the first half of the season.
Judging by what our offense has accomplished/failed to accomplish in the last five seasons, I suspect they will have a few problems.
That being said,
TCU
UGA
Florida
Alabama
Texas A&M
all have good chances of trouncing us. Auburn and Arkansas played us close this year, and will not be easy either.

It blows my mind that many are leaving.

Why Lee?

I know the number sounds jarring, but even back in August it was obvious this was a likely scenario.

The DEs were clearly going to leave (hell, the surprise was them coming back last year)

Anyone who knows anything about Ware, Simon, or Wing should have known they were gone.

It was pretty obvious Reid would be gone with 3 years as a major contributor and finishing his degree as an All-American. Even though his play was down, that isn't going to dictate his draft position. It'll come down to how he tests, and the NFL has plenty of film on him making great plays as a true freshman, sophomore, and junior AA. Sometimes players can regress by staying in college too long. Look at Barkley.

After Brockers went top 15 you had to know Logan would seriously look at leaving with a good year.

The only one that came out of nowhere was Minter, and he had a monster year and simply can't improve his stock by coming back.

I thought all along Ford would be gone as well. The backfield is just too crowded, and his speed and strength actually make him the most likely work out warrior to bump his stock significantly at Combine/Pro Day.

I just don't see why people are so shocked by this.
