naw our shite wouldn't be handed to us the next week. I really dont see why this is so hard. No one pays for the spot so if you don't get out there early then you are shite out of luck. If you want to start shite bc someone beat you to a spot well then thats your problem and IMO you are acting like a spoiled fan by thinking you are entitled to that spot. You snooze you lose

Dont take someone's spot is the rule here.
The problem is folks often do not know that an empty spot is someone's spot--unless they've seen the person at that same port for quite a while.

We have a group of 25 paid members and started tailgating under the oaks along Nicolson past Burbank during the dinardo era . Spots there were not hard to come by . For the most part our group is from the NOLA area so its not possible to set up the day before . The spots became more premium with the Saban era and we were moved from our spot . We are always out there by 7 am for any game . I wanted to bring my dewalt cordless tools and go to work on these tents .
This area is probably the dirtiest area around campus after games .
I agree with BT , I know I dont "own" our spot . Don't jump on the bandwagon and park your fricking horse in my spot .

One of the more rational posts this far.

That's just your opinion. I know you have trouble telling the difference.
no, it's not. it's a fricking free spot on campus
when you show me your lease to that spot, then i'll say it's "your" spot. until then it's free game

Do you give more weight to the guy who put his tent out first, or to the guy who has been tailgating there for 10 years.
whoever gets there first that week
it's not his responsibility to investigate who may or may not be using that particular area
you know how you find out if somebody's using that area? you go around 430 on friday and if you see somebody marking it off already, then it's their spot. it's a simple concept

It's rude to just take a prime spot knowing that someone else tailgates there.
not really
what is rude is the big groups of self-important people who feel that us peons should just know that it's your spot b/c of your awesome tailgate, so we must defer to you. that's rude and arrogant as all frick

You want to believe that sooooo bad. But, if you tried it, you'd probably get your arse handed to you.
you're just confirming what i've been saying about these people thinking of themselves as way too important who likely are total dbags. if they "handed my arse to me," i'd call the cops and sue the shite out of them

i don't usually agree with sfp about tailgating issues. but i do here.
but what is even more funny than people thinking they are entitled to their spot are the "tough guys" defending "their spot".

entitled thinking self important douchebags usually get what they deserve.
if you want the tailgating spot, get there before the other person.
early bird gets the worm, so to speak.

and in my experience it's usually white trash that will start trouble over something like this.

this thread is pretty great
i also love the people that set out chairs to "reserve" a parking place......need to have those damn chairs run over

I don't have a tailgate spot, but if I cared enough to do it, and got there before everyone, and then on saturday found my stuff moved to somewhere else, I'd have a problem with that.

The one thing I don't agree with about first come first serve is that roping off an area and setting up nothing is not first come. I tend to think there should at least be some effort in your reservation.
Hell, any swinging dick could go out on campus at 4 o'clock and put a stupid rope up. I say the minimum to reserve a spot is a tent frame. At least I know the guys are serious about tailgating when I see that.
Rouge - I agree with you about the chair thing too. That's not enough effort for me to consider you a real tailgater. These two things are kind of pet peeves for me.

If your kids have football games on Saturday morning and you cant make it to your tailgate spot until 2 hrs before kickoff ~~ is that ok?? or would that be considered BS as well ?
Posted on 4/20/09 at 9:06 am to Dodd
get to the campus real early. pick out the spot that you want. Bring as a guest a big black dude maybe crosseyed and muscular. this should take care of things. If this does not work, set up a pole and bring some strippers.

This is just retarded. How the hell is someone supposed to know what "your spot" is? Should a new tailgater go out and check where every single "claimed spot" is? Last I checked, LSU doesn't put out a map of where you aren't supposed to set up because location X marks where Dick Cheese likes to set up.
I have been tailgating since 1995. We had spots we liked but when they were taken, we simply went elsewhere. A few years later I bought an RV and a parking pass. Why should you be entitled to something I pay for just because you want it? I have a spot. You have the opportunity to go claim a spot.

If no one is there, it would not be "squatting", so there is nothing to know.

i keep reading people referencing dropping off supplies on friday afternoon and not showing back up until 2 hours before kickoff
only other reference i read in this thread was something about returning back to campus as noon. i would like to see where this has happened, since this imples that it would be for a CBS 2:30 game.
