Anyone with a lick of common sense knew this.

We got beat by a team who had a mad on bout us beating them at their house, a team that played better, a team that was coached better, and team that it sucked having to beat twice to win the title while they only had to beat us once.

gotcha, so the better strategy is to basically lay over and take your arse whooping. it's not like the game was a big deal or anything.

again, i'm not saying lee would have magically led lsu to victory. i'm saying les refused to change ANYTHING the entire game while getting his arse kicked throughout. that is the definition of insanity.

he sure didn't have that same mentality the first time around against alabama. he yanked lee's arse very quickly.

There was no "wah! we shouldn't have to play them again, We beat them already, blah, blah."

The difference with playing UGA again in the SECCG is that they won the east and earned the right to play. Bama didn't win the west. They got picked to play in the BCSCG.

The only positive legacy from that game is that in my view, it probably helped insure the very necessary demise of the BCS and a play-off system to determine the Division I football national champion

The funny thing is, if the BCS hadn't cowered to USC's bitching after 2003, the SOS element would have still existed and OK State probably would have gotten in over Bama. All they had to do was leave that in and mandate only conference champions were eligible and I don't think we have a playoff.

Would you like them to say LSU will only have one QB competing in the game as oppose to two? That only gives Bama the advantage in preparing for the game.

I would hate to see if they had a preparation advantage. LSU might not have crossed the 50 at all.

I think that's a pretty safe bet given JL's Bama career performance history and the fact the mobile of our QBs was running for his life due to our up front guys getting owned from the get-go.

He yanked Lee cause we were being physically dominant and needed to add the threat of the running QB. You seriously can't see that.

Lee sitting back there being less mobile wasn't going to fix the problem.

Miles" Gary, you think JL could help"

Stud"there is no one to throw to coach"

Miles"you sure you don't want to disregard what is happening right in front of us and put him in just to say we are trying. TBob is gonna milk this thing on the radio to get stupid listeners for 4 years!"

stud" let's think about it"

If they would have put Lee in they may just now be getting out of jail for abuse or manslaughter

Makes you wonder why Miles was asking him for advice during the game, doesn't it.

Do you suggest to just ditch the gameplan established thru weeks of prep, to go away from what was the model of success for the entire season, to disregard our second half dominance for the entire year.

Lee led the team to an 8-0 start. JJ had nothing to do with that. The offense might have been the same gameplan-wise, but it sure didn't seem to run as smoothly once JJ was back under center. The writing was on the wall the night we beat UGA in the SECCG. We were offensively inept for the entire first half of that game. If it weren't for TM7's heroics, we would've been in big trouble. Eventually we wore UGA down, but the precedent was set. Stop the run and you stop our offense. Bama was able to do what UGA could not.

Jarrett Lee who led the team to a 9-0 start and #1 ranking was eligible and that was confirmed by Miles when he answered the very angry rant from Bobby Hebert at the post game press conference about not playing Lee: "I can tell you that we did consider Jarrett Lee. But we felt like with the pass rush that we were getting that we needed a guy that could move his feet and not sustain that pass rush."

Saban's defense allowed just 92 yards and zero points, the first shutout in the BCS' 14-year, 62-game history. LSU crossed midfield just once, with 7:58 left in the game. "When you throw the ball out, they're going to go get it," Saban said of his defense. "Because they're a hateful bunch."

LSU went 13-0 against the strongest SOS in NCAA history. Easy to see how some might have thought that the greatest team of all time was destined to win with the same game plan.

The Tigers offense played uninspired and unimpressive throughout the whole game. So, like Hebert and most every other fan, I watched the game saying 'Why doesn't he try something different?'

Facts:

TM7: "In the team hotel, just before the 2012 BCS National Championship game, Mathieu told his girlfriend, Sydni Russell, “I don’t even want to play.” Mathieu was depressed. He was sleeping 14 hours a day, according to the ESPN article, feeling too much pressure from all sides and instead walling himself off with a thick cloud of smoke."

JJ: He was seen partying and "drunk" on Bourbon street and at Harrah's for two days prior to the game. This pissed his teammates off.

Were There Other Reasons Why LSU Lost This is an interesting and mostly plausible read FWIW. Some excerpts easier to fact check than others:

Fact: Predictably running the ball over and over in the 4th quarter with 9 minutes and down by 21 is futile considering you had only 5 first downs and crossed midfield once.

Fact: T-Bob Hebert not taking a snap in the game. RS only playing 3 snaps and not touching the ball or getting looked at.

Lee getting off the bus and walking 10 feet behind the team with his head down and looking dejected while walking into the Dome.

Heated argument between receivers and JJ and O Line with O line coach on sidelines.

Who the hell knows what really happened behind the scenes? The fact is we got our asses whipped soundly, and with our offensive line getting dominated like it was, I don't care who would/could have been in the backfield that night. It just wasn't going to happen. Yes, Miles' pants were down around his ankles, and it looked pretty fricking ugly. However, that was three years ago, and nothing is going to change what happened that night. Time to move on.

That said, I think we all have also been noticing some chinks in the Alabama armor over the last couple of years. They're human after all.

Maybe to not tip our hand to Bama that he couldn't play and that they only needed to prepare for 1 QB.

This game just screams 30 for 30 to me. I wish they could do some interviews and hammer out the truth because that team was visibly not the same as the one who took the field the previous 13 games. The comment about them coming out for the second half is so true -- that was the most sadly pitiful entrance I've ever seen by any team.
