you're assuming the first 3 get on.

of course I am, it is a best case scenario

right now this is far more likely than 4-0 after 1

I was stating that the best case scenario would involve Mahtook batting with bases loaded and hitting a grand slam.

If he is leadoff, that will NEVER happen in the first inning unless we bat around the lineup and then, let's face it, it wouldnt matter who is batting first if we bat around.

Nope. Mikey has found his homerun swing again. You want him hitting cleanup.

Jones at 3. Jones can hit but is young. Putting him at 3 will let him see better pitchers b/c team s know Mahtook is behind him.

I don't know if Jones has the ability to move runners that PM seems to want from the 3 hole. I would go with:

1) Hanover
2) Rhymes
3) Nola
4) Mahtook
5) Jones
6) Katz
7) Ross
8) Lowery/Dozar/Edward
9) Lowery/Dozar/Edward

It would be nice if Spencer Ware could get back into the swing of things quickly following football if nobody else has stepped up in LF. Also Eades may warrant a look at LF or DH. I'm sure they want him focusing more on pitching, but it's a thought and plenty of players are able to handle playing a lot both ways

1. hanover
2. rhymes
3. mahtook
4. nola
5. katz
6. jones
7. ross
8. 1b
9. watkins

imo, you have to keep nola behind mahtook. he has been more consistent than katz or jones this year. if people are going to pitch around mahtook or put him on, we need someone behind him that can pick him up. i would almost consider putting jones back in the 9 hole bc there is such a drop off from the top 5 to ross, 1b and watkins.

im serious that we need a jolt at the top of the line up. lead-off hitter not getting on base is not giving us a jolt. i think what we need to do is get up on teams early and we need to figure out whats the best way to do that. whatever way that might be.

don't feel we need a jolt in the lineup? 1-6 over the last 7 is fine to you?

Sure but that's not a jolt, it's a gun in your mouth.

First off, this is not the Majors.

Secondly, how many MLB teams have a leadoff guy leading their division in HR and RBI's??

Bottom Line is this...

Jacoby Jones was moved to shake things up and all that did was drop his average 50 points!

The only spot Mahtook could possible be moved to is 3rd. Previous years had far different players. We don't really have a true lead off hitter. Trey could be but he strikes out too much. Raph is perfect in the second hole. Most of the other spots a case could be made for several different kids to be in several different spots. We are going to be ok- we could have very easily won two of three from Florida and they are great. Our freshman- repeat freshman- going to be great pitcher had a rough day on a rain out short game sunday. LSU is a very good team not a great team but some of the young guys could mature my may and baseball is a funny sport few guys get on a roll and who knows.
