Student Union - Gameday

Is the union still closed on Gamedays? They used to have the bottom floor open for people to watch other games.

It was closed for the home opener. Completely stupid that it’s not open on game day.
Other SEC schools don’t seem to have a problem with this. It’s always a nice central location to make a pit stop, catch some A/C, and watch a game.
Supposedly, the limited security couldn’t handle the high school crowds that would overrun the place and generally misbehave. Seems like an easily fixable problem

Cut down to one or two entrances with security allowing people in. No one under 18 without a valid LSU ID allowed in without an adult. Solved.

I would add unless they are accompanied by their parents, otherwise how dare you make perfectly good sense?

As usual, the LSU administration takes the path of least resistance.
Instead of trying to fix the problem, just say "frick it" and lock the doors.

Yep. It’s ridiculous. I bet we’re the only SEC school that closes its student union on game day. I’m surprised that LSU hasn’t taken a lot of heat for this.

Back in the '70 we'd skip classes at U-High and go there to play pinball, shoot pool and hustle coeds.

I completely agree. Every other away game I’ve been to has the union open. LSU is charging for every possible thing involving Gameday and can’t afford security for the union?

But the Union has many more seating options, plenty of TV’s for game watching, more restrooms and a good food court with plenty of variety.

Don’t you have to be a member of TAF to go in the Pmac? At least you use to.

No it is open to the public. TAF members have a private section on the court level
