plus, if a student willingly misses a home game in tiger stadium-your tickets should be revoked. period. and get a swift kick in the balls.
What if I have 3 tests on Monday and I really have to study? Will I have to get a written excuse from my proff. for missing the game?

why do people care if people are hitting beach balls around? if you don't want to, don't. i wouldn't say it makes the school look bad though
I don't really mind the beach ball thing at times. I just despise the wave in general.

I'm a student and i was at the game (just like every game, 2 hours early) and i have this to say:
1) the wave thing was stupid as hell, no doubt. Downright obnoxious and offensive. But most of the dumbasses don't know any better.
2) People leaving early is pathetic, and here is my controversial comment of the Day-- If we want to fix this problem, take AWAY some of the student tickets. The upper portion of the student section is a waste-- it is a aton of people who dont care and leave at halftime regardless of the score. The worst are the frat pledges and sorority girls that show up late and leave early. If we want to improve the student section, we need to take away 20% of the tickets and, most importantly for income sake, take away the fraternity tickets that are in the rich areas. the student section is 70% good and 30% useless. I say we just make it all about giving tickets to people that actually CARE and dont just waste their tickets or sell them. Maximize everything--reduce the student seating and get more $ from people for season tickets.
I would rather 100% participation and anticipation than 70%.

I'm a senior and have noticed a decline in general participation in the student section- namely on defense. I do wish at times that our fans had more class, but what kind of a voice am I when there are 12,000 other students there? I sit in the reserved section, and have since I was a sophomore. If you look at it, two of the biggest freshman classes to ever come to LSU have been after a national championship, but I don't think that's because of a passion for football. It's because LSU got a lot of media coverage when these college seniors were making their decisions. I think that's where it has started lacking.
As for the priority points system, it pisses me off at times that people get 5 points for going to away games. I would be at every single one if I could afford it, but it's just not in the cards. I agree with SFP in this regard. However, props to people that do make all of the away games- I'm quite envious.

I love football just as much as you, but I went to LSU for the education as stupid as it sounds.
I was being facetious anyway.

change your study schedule. or cheat. no one in the real world cares what your gpa is anyway. it's a huge misconception they feed you to try and focus on the university and not the sports programs.

what's your plan for making sure the "caring" fans get the tickets and not keeping the same percentage participation from happening?
also-if you get rid of the Greek Section tickets, you lose a LARGE chunk of alumni donations. someone posted a link a while back, and a ridiculous percentage of LSU alumni donations come from LSU Greek Alumni.

get a job. and if you use the excuse "too busy for a job be/c i have to study" then you're at the wrong university.

sure i did. it's not about the grades you make, but the hands you shake. (never underestimate the power of the happy hour.)
there is no truer statement in the world, other than "ooooohh i wanna dance with somebody."

classic phrase from the 70-80% of people who don't get accepted the first time they apply (not implying that this is you BTW)...
then after they finally get accepted their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th try after "I know a guy, who knows a guy, who knows my *insert parent's name here*"

same level as "fat bottom girls make the rockin' world go 'round"
tigerdmb,
those 70-80% didn't shake the right hands at first...ha!
in all seriousness, you just have to be an outgoing person and take the advantages where/when you can. it's makes life a lot more enjoyable to NOT study 22 hours/day to get into a grad level school. trust me, i love it.
now, everybody wang chung tonight.

speaking of the geaux tigers chant... why the hell does the band play over the geaux tigers at the start of the 4th when the whole stadium is chanting
Im not sure if anyone answered this already ( i dont feel like reading 8 pages) but the band always plays pregame at the start of the 4th quarter... idk how many games you have been to but it always happens

And he's talking about after pregame when the cheerleaders are leading the stadium wide geaux tigers cheer...

frick all this talk about taking student tickets away....we are the students the representation of this university it is our right i'd say more than anybody else's (with MAYBE the exception of alumni) to watch the game's considering we pay to attend this fine institution it should be our fricking right to watch OUR team play, it pisses me off that half the fans are people that never even attended a class at LSU but because they have higher demand and the university pockets a little more profit off them we suffer as a result and lose tickets slowly every year....I for one along with just about all of my friends show up at least any hour early and stay for every moment right down to the alma mater so talk shite about the student section but remember we ARE LSU....that is all and "have a great day"

student section my arse . our fan base (NOT EVERYONE)on a whole is bullshite. did you see the penn state game. those fans STAY UNTIL THE END OF THE GAME. I just dont get leaving early to beat the traffic.
1. There's nothing to do in Happy Valley. Why not stay for the end?
2. More students leave early than anyone else. I saw many leaving at halftime. How many of those students have to sit in traffic? About 10 percent? The others who leave the game early might have a legit reason.
The Student Section of today is NOT about football - not on a whole, anyway. I realize that the further we go into life, the more cases of ADHD, ritalin-taking idiots we will have. It appears to me like the average attention span of the drunk college kid isn't capable of handling 4 quarters. No, there are many students who want to dress as Bat man, Snow White, Captain America, or whatever and football is the secondary activity after costume night. Whatever!
It's a damn shame. I saw more rowdier students in the Hallman and DiNardo days than I see now. Tis is the golden age of LSU football and now we have a weak arse student section who would rather start waves, be Snow White, play with beach balls, and leave early to go to Reggie's. I was a student at LSU once, too. Don't give me the "we're trying to have fun" bullshite. The game, itself, is fun enough. LSU's student section - WEAK!
