since the 1st game Alabama hasn't turned the ball over once.. the 1st game they had but they still won by 41 and turnovers can happen in first games. Since then UA 0 turnovers and 13 takeaways, so the turnover stats are not a reason LSU will beat BAMA

yeah, I wish this year's national championship graphic had the date on it so I could replace it with Nov 5, but I think being an LSU fan with Tuscaloosa on my avatar gets the point across...
that and the fact that everyone knows Nov 5 is the real national championship.

i'll give you another reason, field position. lsu has one of the best punters in the country and now have a kicker that can kick the ball in the endzone for touchbacks. bama has 1 touchback all season and is 10th in the conference in punting. this is all splitting hairs. what everyone seems to be saying that you don't seem to "get" is that there is no area of the game in which either team has a clear advantage over the other.

LSU will not be able to stop UA running game. Alabama is sound up front, LSU will have to force 3rd and Longs so the D-line can be a factor. UA will do the majority of their passing on 1st and 2nd downs where they can use the playaction. UA will stop LSU's run and make the 1 dimensional, and LSU doesn't have the passing game to consistly beat UA through the air. UA 28- LSU 7

Stopping Alabama's run-game
I think this is the key to the game. I am not exactly sure what strategy we will to stop Trent and company. I do know it will be tough as hell. IMO we use a combination of stacking the box and run blitzing. In order to do so, our DBs will be left on islands and will have to step up big time because they won't be able to afford mistakes. I think our DBs are up for the task but it won't be easy. Even with that strategy to stop the run, it will be tough as Trent is a hoss to bring down. We will have to control the line either with force or numbers and not allow him to get a head of steam.
I think the flip side of the coin is also interesting. Will Alabama be able to stuff our running game for the entire 4 quarters? Teams have held us in check for the first half but we have worn down every single opponent in the 2nd half. Will we be able to do that against a marquee defense like Alabama's? One differentiator to our running games is that I view Alabama as a strictly power running team. That is not a knock as they are probably the best in the nation at it. I view us as while also having a power running game as also being able to bring a more dangerous speed/spread/edge style to our running game with RS and JJ coming in on occasion. Will that allow us to spread the Alabama defense just enough to gouge them up the middle late?
I have no idea how the game will turn out and, unlike most posters, have expectations for a matchup of the highest quality without any need for trash talking. How any fan base can knock the other team after they have each displayed a level of football comparable to history's best teams is beyond me. I am looking forward to an even matched slobberknocker.
Is it Nov. 5th yet?

Heard that in 2009 and 2010.
JJ will beat Bama again.
Bama stats with JJ in the game has been losing. Not sure I buy Bama creating all those problems for LSU. Bama will have to throw a ton underneath and that will suck in the D into the box. BUT OUR DBs are better than your receivers, which means a lot of single man coverage and 1 or 2 mistakes and Mo and Co will make them pay.
No NS will run first and always. He is too smart for that.

Bama's Schedule:
Kent State is ranked dead last in total offense.
Penn State is ranked 97th in total offense.
North Texas is ranked 106th in total offense.
Ole Miss is ranked 102nd in total offense.
Vandy is ranked 96th in total offense.
Arkansas is ranked 15th.
If LSU had played this schedule they'd be #1 in total defense. I have no doubt Bama is good, but this level of competition skews their numbers slightly.
LSU's schedule:
Oregon is ranked 3rd in total offense.
Moo State is ranked 85th in total offense.
WV is ranked 13th in total offense.
Kentucky is 114th.
Tennessee is 63rd.
Bama's only played six games?
And LSU has only played five games?
How bout you post LSU's stellar offensive ranking vs your opponents stellar defensive rankings?
And FYI, last year's game has zero bearing on this year's game. Actually, less than zero since the game is in TTown.

Could the coaches perhaps experiment playing to our strengths to stop Bama's power run game with putting a 5-2 type of scheme out there with a big boy in the middle, Anthony Johnson at 6'3, 310 for instance, Brockers and Logan flanking him while we have our typical ends out there in Adams and Montgomery?
It would not surprise me to see Bennie Logan move to the outside in place of Adams/Sam. Would probably improve our rush D and our front 4 don't typically get a lot of pressure anyhow so no big loss there. I don't think Chavis will won't to take too much speed off the field. That creates a lot of challenges for O's.
Bama plays physical on O so we'll have to play even more physical on D (and we can).

Good tackling is the most important thing in this game! How about practicing on Auburn!
