Most championship defenses are strong up the middle. Some folks think OF's are guys that aren't good enough for the infield. The truth is that a strong defensive CF saves runs and wins championships, and that is what happened with Jankowski and Stoney Brook. The corner OF's are expected to hit more and for more power, a good defensive CF saves you runs in so many ways that while he needs to hit some, he is still valuable in other ways.

The thing that impressed me was that not only was Jankowski there to make the catches, but there was usually someone backing him up.
