Cant believe we didnt go with a 3-4/5-1 hybrid, with Levingston in a 2 tech, Nevis at nose, and brockers/aghyere(sp?) in a two tech, and getting pressure at Newtons feet.

2 ends or Hatcher and Baker "two-gapping" the tackles and keeping contain.

Kelvin Sheppard spying Cam

Manned up on the outside with PP and Claiborne. 2 safeties(Taylor and Eugene) at 8-10 yards with fly sweep responsibilities(sweep right=Jai fills hole off the tackle, sweep left=taylor scraping and filling

That way the interior line would have had dive. Sheppard had Newton, and Taylor/Jai had mcCaleb/Fannin.

The team got castrated sitting back, waiting to be punched. We will need a heavy dose of Viagra to be ready for Bama. Don't know if they can recover, after what the coaches did to them.

Two weeks to ponder the Auburn offense and how to "attack" it....and Chavis decided to "surrender"..

That's what it felt like to me. I saw zero thought put in to that defense. Chavis basically said...hey guys...im not gonna come out with an aggressive scheme that if it doesnt work...Ill get alot of blame for it.

...So we are gonna sit in a sort of bend but dont break nickel and you guys better make some plays. Good luck guys...

Im still sick to my stomache with Chavis' gameplan...SICK.

We looked helpless out there.

Everybody knew what to do except our own coaches.

The sad thing is, the defense i just described is simple assignment defense. 3 interior lineman taking away the dive. 2 ends/linebackers taking away the zone read. Sheppard mirroring Cam in case he breaks contain. Jai and Taylor taking away the sweep . Peterson and Claiborne taking away the receivers. Its simple, gap control, football. No outside pressure to create easy scramble running lanes.

Oh and BTW, i got this defensive scheme from basically what Monte Kiffin and Tennessee did against Tebow and Florida last yr. Same type of player, same type of offense.

The truth of the matter is that no else has been able to successfully defend Auburn well enough to beat them this year. We just got beat by a better team.

I'm not giving the defense a pass, at all, but Auburn's execution of their blocking schemes coupled with Cam's vision and instincts has become a finely tuned machine.

Better tackling was really our best chance, and that might have been enough. Taylor took a bad angle on McCaleb's run and should have had him.

exactly...we are not used to seeing WR's execute blocking so well on the outside so we just blame it all on the scheme. or the fact that almost every play we had him in the backfield or for minor gains but we could not tackle

And where have you coached at before...and how much do they pay you for your opinion...THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT...0....if you were that good at coaching, you would be somewhere other than on TIGER RANT with all of your knowledge...

State held him to 70 yards though. We do that and we win.

Silly rabbitt. You ever stopped to think that maybe, just maybe, I am a coach? Or maybe i played/play College ball and are around coaches 24/7? You realize that there are graduate assistants and player coaches right? And FTR, i will be a paid coach on a coaching staff, either working with Linebackers or WR's and special teams.

Flame fail douchebag.

The thing with Dual threat qbs is deciding which one you want to stop/slow down. Either you stop the run and make him throw, or like we did, stop the pass, make them run, and try to keep it all in front. Its hard to stop both.

I can see Saban selling out to stop Cam running, but also, he might take the Chavis route, play keep away on offense, and make Auburn chew clock and get 4-5 yds a play. It will be an interesting decision.

To sit back and take away the pass from a quarterback who only completed 10 passes is retarded.let's keep our defense our there all game and get tired out. Great idea. I was severely dissapointed in the gameplan.to not make adjustments after seeing our dline getting nowhere is inexcusable. Doesn't help the fact that we couldn't stop the seemingly same play Newton said himself they ran all game.
