Steve E is a good play caller IMO his offensive philosophy just needs to be up to date

Only certainty in that the Oline play vastly needs to improve! Drew Brees would have looked bad with the way the line played at times. It does not matter who you are playing or what the situation is. If you cannot protect your QB with Max Protection against 4 you are F&*(ed!!

You're quoting Sean Salisbury.

Run on run downs, pass on pass downs, predictable!!!
Run same three plays with less than 3 minutes to go in the game and not finish it. ZERO points vs ALabama(both at home). Don't let one game against an inferior defense that we controlled 80% of fool you. SHould have been a 60-20 game!

So what you are “saying” is he is great at using an antiquated and irrelevant scheme. Well now I’m just plain giddy about the future of the program.

He runs it on 2nd and short almost every time. Imo that is one of the worst calls in football.

He is not a good play caller. He is very predictable. The plays and route concepts are not bad but he can’t help but be predictable.

The same could be said about countless OCs throughout the country.

The hard part is turning philosophy and play calling into success

I kinda agree with Matt Flynn’s assessment of the deal: “If you can’t protect QB with max protection, which we can’t. Don’t use those extra bodies for for something they can’t do, go 4 and 5 wide to give your QB more outs and the ability to release quicker.” The O Line will be a year older but isn’t gonna improve that much(sorry to say, the talent at OT just Isn’t there). What we really need to coach Burrow on desperately though is that he only has 2-3 seconds to release the ball. That is his biggest weakness as a QB.

This. I know our line was bad at times, but at times he had zero awareness of holding the ball too long and not getting rid of it

Well all the claims about not having TE's to run half the offense will end next year so we shall see...

I don't think he's terrible, but he does become too conservative at times. Of course, this year we had a ton of injuries on the OL, a brand new QB, and a brand new set of RBs. We did win 10 games, so you have to give him some credit. I hope he remains as OC and continues to build on the momentum we've built. My biggest complaint is we tend to become conservative when we get a lead, but LSU has been that way for years. If we want to be considered among the elite year in and year out, we need to dominate teams from start to finish!
