THE ONLY WAY Alex Lange pitches Game 2 on 3 days rest (assuming we've made it this far) is if he begs CPM to give him the ball and we've already lost Game 1.
I think you have to throw Lange game 2 if we lose game 1, but only if he feels like he CAN actually go. If it's not there, it's juts not there...But losing the final series without throwing your best pitcher would just be painful. Ideally, if we even get there, we take game 1 so he could rest the extra day for a game 3 potential start.

And what happens when Poche loses game 1? You really think Lange won't want the ball to save our season and national championship hopes?

You think people don't like Mainieri now? Let him run Austin Bain, Todd Peterson and Nick Bush out on the field down a game in the championship series on Tuesday. Everyone knows how bad Lange will want the ball in that scenario.

Season on line, he can't pitch with 4 days rest?
That's 3 days genius.

Hence why I suggested throwing those guys in game one and hoping to win 2 and 3 with our two starters on an extra day's rest. Especially if Faedo goes game 1. Just cede that one and hope our #1 and #2 are better than their #2 and #3.
Florida isn't a great hitting team, so 4 runs may be enough to steal a win in game 1 if one of those guys (our pitchers) gets in a groove and shuts them down for 4-5 innings.
Reynolds and Bain have potential if they can find the strike zone. Maybe the pressure of the CWS Championship Series helps them find that focus that's been lacking all year. If they can throw strikes and not walk batters, both are capable of giving you good innings.
The flip side of that is if they pitch like they've pitched all season, Florida could score 4-5 runs without getting a hit.
Who knows? Maybe you'll get the Reynolds that SLU's coach accused of greasing his cap because his stuff was so nasty. Maybe Bain finds the strike zone? Maybe not. Either way, I think we're better off not pitching Poche or Lange until game 2 at the earliest shoulder make it that far.
