Southern was not the first band to play Neck. I'm pretty sure it was Howard University. If you ever have time to youtube a video of them playing it it is clearly the best version of the song.

oh ok. I go to Southern law school and all the southern people argue they were the first. I wonder if they know they play it like children in music class in 4th grade.

I love it when Tiger Band plays this. I wish they did it more often. Every time I hear it, I think of the 2007 Florida game and that amazing 4th quarter that LSU had.

so does Amazing Grace....doesn't mean I want to hear it at a freaking football game....and no the students don't know the songs...they know one freaking part of the refrain

My father-in-law sings (chants) this one from Tulane. He was an LSU grad from the late 1930's and he still hates Tulane from the rivalry days. He tells some awesome stories about life as a "plebe" back in the day. The freshman at LSU were pretty much brutalized by upperclassmen, and one of the hazing rituals was to make the "plebes" sing the Tulane fight song. He sings the Tulane song now as a joke, in a condescending way.

I hate Living on a prayer and Will you be my girl(or bitch). I would rather them play Neck more often, I know they only do that during timeouts.

I already have 'Songs of LSU' but is there a cd with some other stuff on it like neck etc.
