Exactly. We had to pay off O and Miles. That's just the nature of the game. You can either get a big name for a lot of money or hire a small fish and hope he becomes a big fish. But if you think that Landry is going to do a better job at picking a head coach, I feel really bad for you and the program for years to come.

So you would rather have NOT won three national championships just to not have had Brian Kelly as coach?

You are grasping at straws . I love baseball and I’m very happy that we have Jay , but that doesn’t excuse the callousness of Woodward in regards to the biggest sport and revenue provider that this school has. It’s obvious that you work for someone and are not self employed. This is a business . If you were the boss would you trust Woodward after what he did at A&M with Jimbo and what he has done with LSU football and basketball? If your answer is yes then your business would be out of business!

First off, Woodward did NOT extend Jimbo's contract. That being said, I definitely think Jimbo was a bad hire. From beginning to end. However, the Kelly hire on paper looked right. He was a proven coach. He made some really bad choices in his staff and could never come back from it.
Woodward rolled the dice on what seemed like really good odds and it did not work. Who would you have hired back then? Really....I can't wait to hear this.

That’s a question that would involve me doing a lot more research than Woodward did . However , I can say with certainty that I would not have given a 10 year 100 million dollar contract to a coach that had never even won a playoff game or NY6 bowl! Hope this helps your state of confusion.

You really think that you would have hired a coach with a playoff win or NY6 bowl for less than what Kelly got paid? You really are naive. If you want a cheap coach, you gotta hire someone who might have potential.

Read it again dummy. I said that I would NOT have paid any coach a 10 year contract worth 100 million dollars who had never won a playoff game or NY6 bowl. You need to stick to arguing with people at the Waffle House , because you and I aren’t on an equal playing field.

You just want to bag on Woodward while you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. At that time Kelly was a proven coach. To get him away from Notre Dame was going to take more money.. Unless you can offer up a coach that would have been a better hire, go back to your shack and whittle a pipe.

I won't debate the fact that the team started going downhill under O. But there was a lot more going on there. He was hitting on the pregnant wife of a board member, posting pics of himself in bed with young women, etc. I think he let the NC get to his head and he believed he could do anything and not get fired.

That’s all most here can do. Logical thinking and weighing long term ramifications is something they are not capable of doing at all.

Do I want Woodward leading the charge? No. But he should still be involved. He is not a terrible or even a bad AD. He is a good AD. Hes made really good and some bad decisions. But damn who makes a great decision every fricking time and never has a decision that has come back to bite you in the butt? This isn't a normal business but again no I would like others involved in the hire but to basically be a dead man walking as hes likely going to be canned after the new President takes over is BS.
