I am not pushing the idea that Beth has given up on this season.. i think she knows what she is going to lose this year, but i think she is going to do what she can to try to get into the WCWS.

That being said, i think she is trying to give the underclassmen experience, and its not costing the team too much because there are only three or four starters that are getting on base. Whether they got Springfield, Doyle,or Thornhill at first base isnt so critical because they are decent defensively, and all three struggle offensively.

If they get Springfield and Doyle straightened out, those two girls are going to be a terror for the other teams in the SEC.

I feel for Jaquish right now, she has zero opportunity to take an at bat because everyone just walks her to not have to deal with her.

Talent and ability at this point isn't the issue.
Beth holds people a lot more accountable than you think.

I am not the type to spread false info but you can take it for what its worth.
I have a friend who has a son that works within the softball program and with the staff. Beth hasn't been happy lately with some of the performances and preparations of a lot of the hitters. There has been some intense arguments this season between Beth and Dobson. Some close to the program seem to think if there isn't improvements by the end of the season, that there could be new opening on staff this offseason. I was told this two days ago.

That might not be true at all but when you don't please Beth or follow what she wants, she isn't afraid of changing things. As sweet as she is and as classy, she understands this is a job. There is a lot more stuff that goes behind the scenes than people realize.

Hopefully we can steal a win tomorrow though, we really need it

Interesting, I like Dobson but maybe a change of scenery will do good for both parties involved.

I watches both the arizona/oregon game as well as the baylor/oklahoma game and those four teams looker outer space to how we hit right now

I would have Jaquish lead off and let them pitch to her.

Dobson should be head coaching somewhere right now.

At this point why the hell not?

Although they could walk the leadoff, although I don't recommend it.

I have always wondered if Dobson wants to be a HC again

There are two ways to use Landry and Jaquish to help hitters. Beth has done one by sliding Quinn in front of Jaquish. This way, it forces you to pitch to Quinn. Hitting in front of Landry and Jaquish is good for at least .075 on your average. I would slide two hitters in front of Landry for the same impact. I don't think it will happen.

but I've seen nothing at all from Dawson this year to justify the caterwauling for her to start every game

Really? So a top 4 BA, top 3 OBP, most dynamic player we have on base paths and one of only 3 players on the team with more walks than strikeouts doesn't justify a spot in one of the worst offensive lineups in the SEC? I'd say you haven't seen much of anything.

Serrett has had a really tough two games. There are some plays scored as hits that she has to make.

100% agree. She is getting some very home scoring on some of the calls. I thought she made at least one costly error in each game.

Dawson finally last summer stepped up in competition and had some success.

You remain in hate and denial mode. Dawson lead off for the East Cobb Bullets and played SS after her Junior year and lead them in hitting and a runner up finish in the TC world series

She was also fabulous last year in the IDT in Colorado which IS THE MOST COMPETITIVE FAST PITCH TOURNEY IN THE USA!

You really don't like this girl do you? What did she do to you?

but because she was so much older that the others

Based on your ridiculous analogies you would have to assume that all seniors are better than juniors, all juniors better than sophs and so on. This is of course absurd. Is a kid born in January automatically better than a kid born in July? You sir, at times can make a reasonable point. But when it comes to Dawson your hatred is so deep you can't comment rationally.

It is simply the truth....she should be so more advanced than she is for her age. She isn't an 18 year old freshman with 18 year old mentality, physical strength...sobher upside is questionable. You don't like...i really d ont give a damn...but it is the truth.

I would can only imagine Hoover, Walljasper and Griggs being freshman this year....what an advantage. But She isn't close to being on their level. So I question whether she can get there

But I have said in every post, she deserves to play right now...but your statement calling me miserable POS...i get a chuckle, I am far from
Being miserable...but I am very honest and accurate

Enjoy your day!

I dont habe one ounce of hatred towards the young lady. I actually said she should be starting.

But what I have a hatred for is a the pumpers that think she is going to be the second coming.

And yes her age has a lot to do with her upside. Why in the hell do you think boys sports red shirt a lot of freshman? Your body changes..your strength changes...and you should be much more mature. But I am sure none of things are important in your views...as you are blinded by a kid that comes from our backyard.

I have said multiple times, she deserves to play. But the upside is all I question. Would you play her over an 18 year old with same talent? Hell no! The 18 year old has more upside...just facts No hatred

Oh by the way. Triple crown is the worst of all the nationals and going to Colorado and playing triple crown is the Junior circuit
Compared to Colorado Boulder tournament, and it sure isn't the premier tournament that ends the year in C alifornia.

If you want to argue facts about summer softball you might want to find a easier target.

Sweet dreams

Just so you know, IDT is the Colorado/Boulder Tourney Ashlyn mentions.

My two cents, Dawson is elite and being 6 months older isn't what makes you elite. If it did, all "older" players would be "more" elite than younger players. All sophomores would be better than all freshman and as you know they simply are not. Dawson is a Freshman and that is all that matters. She has 3 years left and the date of her birth has no relevance to anything. I think your argument here is void of fact or material but carry on with it.

I try with all my heart not to use this language but I can't help it with this guy. Bayou Bum is a dipshit who has ZERO credibility and does not know wtf he is talking about. He genuinely just said Dawson has no strength. She benches 225 and deadlifts 400. In your language that isn't strength however. In your eyes that's "yeah yeah yeah she's 6 months older than everyone so those numbers are inflated."

Bayou Dumbass plainly wants to steer the pot because he is a lowlife jackass who attacks a player because he hates that people are saying positive things about that certain player. I am willing to bet my life that he would have negative things to say about athletes who have been praised as being greats, Messi, Jordan, Gretsky, Brady, Babe Ruth, etc. He does this because he is a loser and because he wants to appear cool on the internet.

BINGO...you just set the blueprint on how to win a national championship!

Lets attend all the school weight lifting events and do our recruiting. Hell I bet they don't even rest for steroids.

Did you just put her in the same context of Gretzky, Ruth,, and Messi?

Listen, I think all of our freshman maybe with the exception of Gorsuch are all ridiculously talented, including Dawson.

We have seen glimpses of what they are capable from Doyle, Springfield, Andrews, and Dawson.

They all have a lot of tools that will make them deadly hitters for this program. Doyle has a great foundation with a lot of power. Andrews can really drive a ball, she will never be a homerun or power producing player but I think she will definitely be a great leadoff for us for many years and definitely has the ability to hit for extremely high average. Springfield whats scary is she had 8 homeruns and 5 doubles within a short period of time. A couple of her homerun, she shortened up a little somewhat but she usually doesn't do that the majority of her at bats. I remember her taking a pitch at her shin earlier in the season and smashing it over the center field wall.

Dawson has a lot more power than what we have seen. She can really drive the ball well too. No she hasn't been a super star or a huge standout so far this season but no one really has but she is doing a solid job and I like what I see from her.

I still think the future is extremely bright with this class, we have not even touched on what really is to come. I think we still have much to be excited about personally.

Lets kick arse today and pull out a win

Not gonna lie, Tennessee looks like LSU two years ago. Moss and Arnold reminds me of Walljasper and Hoover. There offense also has speed and power. And with anyone against slappers, Tennessee has 4 in their lineup, with Brooke Vines being our Bailey Landry. But I feel like the offense is coming around, it just needs to consistently putting pressure on the other team. After the first inning, when we scored four runs, we had 9,1,2 coming up in the bottom of the second. We proceeded to strikeout, pop out, and strikeout again on only about 8 pitches. That can not happen. We need to keep the pressure on. Also, move Serrett back down to the 8 hole. Batting her higher seems to make her really nervous and she starts striking out more and making bad plays in the field, which is where she shines. Lastly, I really hope we're done with Sanchez at third and Thornhill at first. I know Doyle and Springfield are struggling a little, but Sanchez isn't hitting or making plays on the field, while it seems like Thornhill hasn't had a hit since late February. Doyle, Dawson, Springfield, and Andrews should be in the lineup everyday. I know they may struggle, but that's the best we have. Griggs looks confident once again, and I think Landry is starting to try to do too much, but she's great. Quinn is doing pretty good and Jaquish sometimes needs to be more aggressive, but not chase pitches. This team is gonna get hot and learn from these struggles, and when they do, watch out.
