Do you think Carly has a preference...when she pitches, she prefers Jaquish to catch? Remember when jaquish was playing third, and the decision was made to pitch Carly in relief, and Beth looked at Jaquish and told her go get your catcher gear on... I wonder if Carly has a preference. I think if she does, its not a swipe at Satchell but Carly herself may feel she is wild at times and thinks maybe Jaquish is a little taller and maybe can knock down a pitch that may go past her.

There is a good chemistry between Hoover and Jaquish so that's critical but I think also because Hoover throws extremely hard and can get wild at times, she would prefer to have Jaquish behind the plate.

It's not a knock on anyone else she's just extremely experienced so I can understand that decision.

The truth is very obvious. Satchel is not a SEC caliber catcher! Just a fact. She definitely is not a SEC hitter.

Let's hope the catcher coming in next year can play, or we waiste this pitching staffs chances of getting to another world series

Good win for the team but nothing special about the outing. A W is always good to get though.

Four things that show just how far off the thinking of the Rant is in comparison to the staff! Us know-it-alls don't know anything.

quote:

Lineup 1. Griggs

Didn't see that coming at all

quote:

Lineup 9. Andrews

Or this considering how solid she has been

quote:

PH Gorsuch

Why 45 games in to the year?

quote:

Dawson no AB's

Guess she is not a candidate for DP if she can't get an AB in the mid week.

The struggle continues. We have to win 2 of 3 this weekend.

I think Beth saw a chance to give a freshman pitcher a little work and play a few players that do not normally get to play. The opponent wasnt a ranked team and Beth knew she could win with second and thrd teamers

Next series if she plays that same lineup then i can understand being puzzled as a fan. Griggs is coming around. Andrews or Grggs will work at the nine hole. Personally i put Andrews first because she can run bases better. Glad to see Griggs swinging.

Tenn is not an easy series. They swing away and they score runs. Going to. Be interesting series.

Griggs should never slap I can actually see letting her swing and put her in her in the 5-6 hole I agree Andrew should be the leadoff hitter and I think Dawson at 9 is a good choice right now

However I am completely confused I'm putting Mary Beth in the lineup not as a pitcher as much but as a hitter I have no problem seeing her in the circle to see if she's going to be able to cut it but I've said before I don't think she is the caliber pitcher to pitch in this league

The more I watch this team the more I realize they are so shallow in the depth Department

Let's hope they figure it out and finish out the year strong and get a good run going into regionals and super regionals

Hosting supers... i hope the players know how important it is. Its better to be top 8 than to have to play a top 8 team to get to the CWS

Why do you keep saying this? She isn't bad at all defensively playing catcher, its pretty new position to her. She has a lot of raw power in her bat, I have seen players not as talented as her have a lot of success in this conference every year. Not an SEC hitter? I guess no one on this team is in SEC hitter besides Jaquish and Landry then. With proper offensive instructions you would see a substantial difference. Having proper hitting instructions is vital for success at the plate unless you are just a ridiculously natural hitter like Bianka Bell, Sahvanna Jaquish, and Bailey Landry who were very polished hitters coming out HS.

I agree with you with Gorsuch but not with Satchell. I just think we aren't even close to seeing what a lot of these hitters can really produce, and I think many would agree with me. This team is not even close to maximizing its potential at the plate.

I mean look at ULL. Do you honest think they have much better players than us? Sure they play a much easier schedule but their mechanics at the plate are great, its why you see them have a lot of offensive success.

She is not a great catcher and she is not nearly the receiver that Cunningham is. Satchell has a below average arm. I am shocked she has moved into the back up catcher role. I will be surprised to see Cunningham back at LSU next year and that will spell real trouble for us behind the plate.

I was able to see her play quite a few times in high school and in travel ball. She has never been a great hitter by any stretch. She was a solid high school player but nothing special. She was not a very good hitter on the high level travel ball scene. She has shown a little pop in a couple of at bats this year but from what I have seen that is more the exception than the norm.

I like her but have to agree with my arch nemesis the Bum on this one. If we have to rely on her to be our every day catcher and hitter we are in trouble. Unless she is significantly better on this level than she has been on every other level it's just not there. I sure hope I am wrong.

All you do is troll LSU softball threads, its like you want us to lose/fail

Are you really an LSU fan?

Pretty sure you were also ripping into the gymnastics program the other night when we didn't win in the main thread.

I know you want Beth canned but its not happening

No, I've heard a little chatter on the travel ball scene that it's been a tough year for her. I don't think it's that she is not playing but the fact that she is not even the back up at this point.

She was a highly recruited, rated kid (to everyone but the Bum) that is a long ways from home with alot of opportunity at other schools. For whatever reason, Cunningham has not fit into the plans and has gotten 1 AB.

Kids today want to play and many of our recruits are good enough to be everyday players at alot of other schools and she has plenty of opportunity elsewhere.

That would be ashame, she is a talented young lady. Not really sure what the reasoning is for her not getting many looks, Jaquish needs the breaks. Catching that many games is way too much.

If we lose her that would be a huge hit on this team next season. I was expecting her to be starting by next season, she is really good defensively and also seems to carry a really good bat. She excelled when she played travel ball.

She was ranked #27 player in the country by FloSoftball. I was surprised we grabbed a girl all the way out in Ohio. Hopefully she stays though, I was extremely excited to see her in the lineup as soon as she chose LSU.

I got a feeling Gorsuch will be transfering this off season. Sunseri is going to come in and see time immediately. I was hoping to see Gorsuch do well but she seems to just get hammered by everyone.

At least Sunseri had a lot of success for the Texas Bombers, extremely excited about her. Especially hitting, she is a legit dual threat pitcher who can hit. She is actually having a monster year right now. She definitely will be in the running to be named an All American
