they had some controversy in extra innings. Supposedly FSU fouled strike 3 that was caught by the catcher. Then they hit the game winning run.
Yep, but I think she swung and whiffed. The catcher didn't catch the ball and the ump called it a foul.
When I first saw it I thought she swung and missed and maybe the ball hit her. I was wondering what the call is when that happens. But then they replayed it a few times. The batter was definitely out on the pitch. She did not touch the ball with the bat and the ball did not touch her. First base was occupied so she should have been out.

Thanks for clarifying.
In other SEC games
Baylor run ruled Auburn 8-0
NC State beat Ole Miss 3-2
Bradley beat Arkansas 3-2 (who is Bradley?)
UT Arlington beat A&M 7-2 (yikes)

This freshman class and the one we have coming in next year are too talented to settle for the mediocre offensive performance we have had for years now. I have all the respect in the world for Howard, but if this year ends up being the same ole same ole then something has to change. Hopefully in 2 months this will be a ridiculous opinion and our offense is killing it.

Damn. Auburn and Arkansas are ranked. Not a good look for the SEC.

It's the first weekend, it doesn't matter

I expected Auburn to take a step back their pitching is a huge question mark. Offensively, other than Rivera and Snow, that lineup shouldn’t scare anyone.
Ole Miss probably I just a split team right now. They just lost their head coach. Some players liked him, some hated him. They weren’t great offensively last year and they lost their best hitter.
A&M is just in a complete rebuild, they have no place losing to UTA. Luckily for them Herzog is a solid pitcher, so once they get out of these multiple game days, they should be ok (I won’t say good after what I saw tonight).
Arkansas is the surprise. They have two very good veteran hitters and a solid top of the lineup. They shouldn’t lose to Bradley. But if I learned anything today, this year you’ll see a lot of upsets and close games.

It’s time to sit her and let a freshman play

Arkansas has been one of the worst defensive team in the SEC for a bit. Their pitcher lost a ball during a windup, ball went sailing into the OF. The runner scored for Bradley
I am trying to find a video of this

I am concerned that Tidwell will struggle with her long swing (Much like Springfield).
I see you noticed that to. It is disappointing knowing she had a great high school career in 5-A St Amant. She has power but she will have to have great overnight swing adjustments if she wants to get on top of the ball.
However its still early. She is in that slot in the batting order for a reason I guess.

I think Torina is trying to ease her freshmen in. Both Briggs and Jones got at bats yesterday. I personally think Briggs, Abrams, and Calland will be a big part of the team. But coming in the season, if those three started, LSU would be playing 5 freshmen. Pleasants (SS), Briggs (RF), Abrams (2B), Calland (C), and Gutierrez (1B when Clark DHs).
Like we have to remember that only Andrews, Doyle, and Stewart (whos only a sophomore) are the only players who played significantly last year. Clark and Tidwell barely played. Cummins caught a decent amount, but she only had 15 at bats.
This is a young team and it won’t look pretty early. We have to take it one game at a time. We will see growth every game. You’ve already seen it from Clark and Kilponen. We saw the defense improve from Thursday to Friday. I’m not gonna get really mad about things early because we are a work in progress. It doesn’t have to be pretty, all that matters is that we are 2-0 with a win over a top 15 team. Not many teams can say that early. Softball season is back!
