#3 Auburn on the road
#5 Florida on the road
#8 Tennessee on the road
#5 Arkansas on the road
It's frustrating we walked away from that season without any hardware. But god damn! I don't know that I wouldn't take the 2011 scheduled again over that murderer's row.

that 2006 team was soooo stacked. we had the best QB in CFB, a top-flight WR, a TE, a gamebreaker RB in keiland, and an all around beast D
I know people will disagree, but I think at the end of 2006, we were watching the best LSU team ever.

limited passing game
im pretty sure our junior high route tree was more complex than whatever the hell they are using

Pretty sure your Jr. High team dropped less passes too.

Tough call. The obvious argument you'll hear is 2011, but that team was 80% defense. I'd wager that 2005 was even better than 2006, but we'll never know what that team would have truly been capable of.

The full on obsession some of you have with passing while ignoring the fact that the team may end up being one of the best running teams in history is amusing at this point. It shows that you don't really care about winning by any means necessary, you care about flash. If lsu is so bad and you think the coaches are so terrible, then why is lsu still in the top 10? Honest answer would be great but I realize I'll get nothin but bull shite
You are completely IGNANT

Dead on with your OP. They are giving Harris the Lee/Jefferson hybrid treatment, and it's sad. They don't realize how unimportant interceptions are in a game.
No utilization of RBs, no drag or crossing routes, we abandon the screen almost immediately, no complexity in the route tree at all. Just a complete lack of trust in Harris' ability to make reads in a progression. At least go with the naked bootleg and get a little rhythm going there.
Instead, it's all-or-nothing low percentage pass plays. PA go routes, wheel routes, and fade routes. No complexity in the route tree and no willingness to use the middle of the field because they are terrified of Harris. Again, picks really don't matter that much and we do far more harm to ourselves by handcuffing the quarterback with simplistic playcalling. And to obfuscate the situation, Miles throws our WRs under the bus for dropping balls.
Whether or not Bama eats us alive defensively in November is a foregone conclusion, barring a miraculous improvement in this area. And the frustrating part is that it doesn't even have to be that way.

during 2011 when we were rolling, i was making threads talking about how 2006 LSU would beat them
the arguments for 2011 got much quieter after the SECCG and vanished after 1-9-12

Out of curiosity, where does LSU rank in third downs per game and punts per game? Inquiring minds would like to know.

The problem is that the 2011 offense would get shut down by the 2003,2005,2006 and 2011 defenses.
2011 may have been the most exciting team to watch, but they were a QB away from being the best.

i'm honestly curious how many of our routes are gos and deep posts. i seriously think they are about 80-85% of our routes
i mean forget route combinations or anything relatively advanced. we don't even run slants, double routes, hitches, or cross routes

I'll trade ya some "grammar" for a "fewer".

Key difference between 2011 and this year (not sure if you touched on it) is we had incredible special teams and one of the best defenses ever. Both of these units were led by the most dynamic college football player (non-qb) in the modern era. This year our defense is good but thin in the Front 7 and our special teams are terrible.
Posted on 10/4/15 at 3:44 pm to LACountyTiger
I still submit (though not without disagreement) that it wasn't the QB play that killed us that year. As much as it left to be desired, the offensive line was just embarrassingly bad, and the running backs were okay, but I can think of a few names I would rather have before Ware and Ford.
We had the defense and we had Randle and Beckham.

that's silly b/c we've never been prevented from playing for the title when we were in the running
It's still a game/title you have no control over making. Elite colleg programs can win 10 games every year yet you act like winning the national title is the only successful season. 99.9 of all cfb programs can not and have not won 10 games every year for a 5 year stretch, let alone win a national title. You're saying lsu has had 3 successful seasons in our enitre history.
If Miles' tenure has made you numb to lsu football then how the hell were you even a fan before he got here? If the most successful 10 year stretch in lsu history has made you numb then you need to get a grip on reality.

oh i've posted many times last week and this week our defense is the #1 concern. it isn't passing; it's defense

Except no they arent. Say what you want but our deep routes have been called perfectly. Every time we throw deep it's 1 on 1 with a cb and no safety help.

Except yes we do. We run a prostyle route tree. You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

i became an LSU fan in 2000 as a HS Senior when i decided to go to LSU instead of the Ivy League. i didn't even follow CFB before that
i was 100% NFL, NBA, and MLB before then
my first LSU game was UAB in 2000

i also rushed the field when we beat Auburn in 2001 to get a shot in the SEC title game
