true, but this is the tiger rant and this thread is about lsu's d. calm down

you act as if LSU is expected to stop those guys with their LB's. You singled out LSU for effect? Why do that when every team in the country LB's would get blown off the field by those guys.

why is it so hard to understand that defense can play conservative also.

Why did LSU need to blitz last night? Give me one reason why?

USC defense is great right?
Ohio St. defense is great right?
Georgia defense is great right?
How about Mizzou? Great right?

No, none of them are great. And none of them would allow 24 points and almost 300 yards to Mississippi State.

Because we were getting sliced and diced by the worst offense in a BCS league, led by only 10 midway through the fourth quarter, and were a fortuitous fumble recovery in the end zone and a dropped pass by a wide open RB from being in a serious nailbiter.

Holding the worst offense in a BCS league to less than 250 yards and 24 points is not a ridiculous expectation. Every SEC opponent they've faced since Kentucky last year has met this expectation...except LSU.

do you not comprehend the play that led up to the 4th quarter?

Chuck coulda woulda shoulda diced his way through Miss State for 250 yards alone, BUT it wasn't necessary.

any LB trying to cover those guys = easy 6, so don't single out LSU's LB's. That's just retarded.

No, what's retarded is a scheme that PUTS linebackers on guys like that. If they can beat any linebacker, then a good scheme would be one that doesn't expect a linebacker to cover them.

so LBs covering RBs is a new thing? Riley had played very well against the RB the previous games and midway through this game. His mistakes are correctable.

According to Nuts and SFP assessment of defense there isnt a great defense in all of college football.

There's not a defense in FBS that has allowed Mississippi State to do what they did against us. There's not a defense in the SEC that has allowed Auburn to do what they did to us. It's not just one game, it's both of our only two games against anybody. I-AA teams and I-A teams that should be Div. II teams mean nothing. Auburn and Mississippi State are the only two opponents we've faced that have anything to do with Div. I-A college football. Both have horrible offenses that have done absolutely nothing against anybody...except LSU.

Hey Nuts let me ask you something. What are your expectations this year. What record do you expect from our team this year.

I would love to go undefeated every year, but Im realistic. It just wont happen for any team. I think thus far the team exceeded my expectations. I expected to win against the weaker teams and we have done that (no upsets here). We also beat a good Auburn team in Auburn for the first time in years. We are 4-0 and ranked in the top 5 again. Watching Georgia and Florida lose the way they did makes me feel alot better about playing both of those teams. They are mortal too though the media would have you think otherwise. Even the mighty USC and Ohio State have already fallen. It wont be easy and wont always be pretty but at least we are winning. Its all about winning.

Yeah, I think you sum it up nicely.

I sat in the worst seats in the house (end zone, low level) and haven't had a chance to watch the game yet, but saw enough to know that the two second half TD's were disappointing, but don't overly concern me.

Anyone extremely disappointed in our play at this point falls into the same category of those talking about our ranking and our undefeated status going into the Alabama game.
