So the guy who has struggled the most the past month is sent up to bat....

With two outs down a run. Makes sense?
And also, you don't make defensive replacements late in games when you are "behind"!
When you tie the game or take the lead you do that.
CPM....

This is not a defense of PM, but the switch was offensive, for more speed.

True, but you are also allowed to pinch hit for that replacement when the spot in the batting lineup comes up again.

sometimes you have to follow your gut

As I said, I was merely stating that the move was offensive. I was against it against Bama in G3 as well as last night.
As soon as he made the switch, I started to calculate whether Slaughter would get an AB.
Had Coomes been in, they have to pitch to Deichmann.

His record makes him immune to criticism? PM is always talking about expectations, so he's no stranger to this. It's a perfect storm he created - used Texas to get a raise, cried when the Fab Four said they were returning, has more returning talent than any team but TCU. And this is the product he put on the field?
He deserves all the criticism he is receiving. And he knows it.

You beat me to it.

Also if your gonna pinch run for Coomes why slaughter? How bout Breaux? Would have had a chance to score on the throw to the ghost first baseman. Slaughter is not that much faster then Coomes. If your gonna pinch run then use the fastest player on the damn bench
and if he would have pinch hit for slaughter and we tied it Woley is on the bench to play first in the 10th. Use your players Pawl. You just can't simply let slaughter hit in that situation

It hasn't even been just this month. Guy is batting an atrocious .189 in SEC play.
But I'm sure being put in these situations and failing will no doubt build up his confidence for the next year. Freaking Maineri man. shite is really starting to get old.

Some of this shite is just common sense. If your gonna pinch run then use the fastest player. CPM has lost it. His moves you just can't defend much anymore. I just don't get him anymore. Either all in on pinch runner or leave Coomes in the game.

What is his Post Season Record? In Omaha?

If this isn't the worst coaching job of his tenure I'm sure as hell glad I don't remember the one that was.
Was it 2011 that we didn't make the tournament? That's the one that might be close, but I'm not sure that team returned the supposed talent that this one did, and it also finished with a better regular season record than this one likely will.
Sad to see the baseball program collapse again. At least it took longer with Mainieri than it did with Smoke.
