Here's a thought: He doesn't want to throw Mett out to the wolves and have a completely head fricked QB next year being his only option.

Generally have better QB's than the SEC. B10 does.

What does that have to with the quality of defenses faced?

I really get upset knowing that all of the good talent evaluators don't get their shot at working for LSU.

yeah the reason we have the issues at QB is because they got thrown in way too early. I feel better letting Mett sit this year and become the starter as a Junior.

When was the last time you heard this from anyone on the coaching staff ? Spring game maybe ? Link?

this. kinda. I think Miles said something like that during summer, but I haven't heard anything like that recently.

Someone, somewhere on this board, believes that.

Miles acknowledged that Mett was probably the best pure passer on the team (either spring, or early this fall). He recognizes his talent. But he also believes that playing in games, at Auburn, at Florida, etc etc, count for something. Hard to argue that.

Lee has been through everything imaginable as a QB at LSU. Not many situations will surprise him. Miles knows this. And Les didn't totally dismiss the idea of getting Mett snaps, although he did say today, at this time, there are no plans for a specific series.

Lee 1, Mett 2, for the time being. Its a good situation.

Once Mett found out he was 3rd string behind JJ, he lost all motivation, including in the classroom. FACT. Its only due to recent events that hes gotten re-focused. Notice his new haircut?

Miles said very recently (in the last week or two)that Lee is 'easily' ahead of Mett.

It doesn't. Just making the point that you don't have to be stellar to be an SEC QB

LSU has a QB who can handle the duties, in Lee and JJ if he returns. I have no doubt in my mind Mettenberger could run the offense if needed though.

Do you?

Mett played half the game and stands to play more in the future...the whining about our experienced, undefeated, starting QB and the manufacturing of a qb controversy would really be astounding unless you considered that it was coming from the rant.

Lee is 2-0 and has seemed serviceable in both outings.

I'll trust the coaches on this one for now. Even though that is blasphemy on the Tigah Rant.

I have a feeling Mett may have suddenly "learned" the offense when LSU stacks the box and JL can't throw us out of repeated 3rd and 7s.

The defense always has the advantage in a 3rd and 7 situation...and if you somehow think Mett is gonna thrive in those situations in the SEC...you're an idiot.

It took Jefferson 3 years to learn option left and option right. We discussed simplifying it more.
