It doesn't mean anything close to what you're suggesting.

All the GJ has said is that isn't possible that JJ committed simple battery, and a trial should be had to flesh out the facts more.

I don't see how this says he kicked him in the head or anything of that nature. Just that simple battery may have occurred.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm inferring from the statements of the prosecutor and the defense lawyer in the popular press. The prosecutor stated that multiple witnesses have claimed that JJ kicked a man in the head. Fair to assume that the grand jury heard some or all of that evidence. Meanwhile, the defense attorney was arguing in the paper that the victim's injuries didn't satisfy the statutory definition of aggravated battery because the injuries incurred weren't sufficiently severe. Taken together, it appears the grand jury concluded that there was sufficient evidence that Jefferson kicked a man to bring simple battery charges, but inadequate evidence of severe injury. Like I said, I readily admit some surmise here, but that seems an equitable interpretation of events thus far.

BUt I don't want the main thrust of my inquiry to be lost here. Let's assume that Jefferson is convicted of or pleads guilty to misdemeanor charges for kicking a man in the head. Does LSU really want to reinstate that QB? They aren't compelled to. The legal resolution of the criminal case doesn't control LSU's disciplinary action.

If he is only guilty of a misdemeanor then he is only guilty of a misdemeanor.

you could be charged with misdemeanor possession of marijauna and still not be on the team

Gawd you really are a piece of shite! I know that if I saw you on the ground I would likely kick you in the head.

I have to ask (which in and of itself is crushingly disappointing): Do some of you assholes really think that JJ is going to be good if he sees the field?? Regardless of whether or not he was innocent (which, it seems to me, he was guilty, but a la Casey Anthony, there just wasn't a smoking gun) the dude literally illustrates ineptitude on the field. And, before you contest, statistical aberrations (e.g., ATM game) are just that: aberrations.
