Slot value over 350,000 at that pick. That’s enough green for him to give it his best shot. He’s a winner. Never count a winner out.

He got drafted because he’s good at baseball and as Sr. he’s going to sign for about 10% of his slot value.

Listen, no one is disparaging Gavin but it’s extremely unlikely signs for close. It’s just the way the MLB draft works. Last year, there were 8 college Srs. drafted in the six round. Average bonus was a little over $100K. Lowest was $32K. One did get full slot so there’s a chance, albeit a very small one.

Exactly. He’ll sign for whatever he signs for. I’m thinking closer to $100k. But we’ll see, they have to sign Crews. The rumor is he wants over slot value and I don’t blame him. It sucks for Dugas( as if getting drafted sucks) cause he has NO leverage.

I have a question. I could go the Google route but I’m trying to drum up some conversation. I heard last night that if the teams don’t sign their 1st round picks they get a compensatory pick in the next years draft. I believe they said a 2nd round pick. Do compensatory picks happen for every pick you don’t sign? Or does it stop after a certain round and you don’t get Jack-shite.

I googled it! You get a pick, 1 pick later in next years draft. And it’s for the first 3 rounds.
