simple solution to offensive problem

when our d sucked, miles eliminated the guys running the defense, hired a successful and seasoned pro and the problem was solved.
now our offense suckes. he missed the elimination at the end of last year. gave him more time. didn't work. he needs eliminating. simple. our OC is running an offense that is not putting us in a position to win; i.e., they don't score many points and they turn the ball over in excess. he's got to go and i wouldn't wait until years end. do it now.

This is what I am going to start believing in now. The defense went through something similiar to this, Coach Miles stepped up, cleaned house, & look at our D now.

As much as I'd LOVE to see crowton on the next greyhound outa here, I just don't know if canning your OC, even crowton, at this point in the season-with the fragile QB situation, would be the best case scenerio. First off, that makes the offensive problems even worse, if that is possible. And secondly, who do they get to come in, mid-season under these circumstances? I say if we're gonna get a "Chavis" hire for our OC problems, then we need to, as much as this pains me to say it, wait till the season's end.

i would do it now after that epic meltdown last week, appoint an interim (probably gonzales) and start my search now for the permanent guy. of course, i'm not in that business and the protocol seems to be what you say.

But yet we haven't lost a game. Do you think that there is any chance that part of the struggle is quarterback execution? Miles is trying to give Jefferson the opportunity to succeed and I think if he doesn't perform well this weekend or gets in a little trouble he won't be playing. Miles is going to give Jefferson the chance. Not so much the OC's fault.

I second that motion.

I believe no matter what the outcome of this year is, LSU/Miles will get rid of Gary Crowton. The offense under this man has gotten worse every year, almost every game.
Bring in a kick arse OC, let him run the show, and LSU is back to NC form. There's enough talent as LSU right now to do this, and the recruiting is still very strong.

In addition to this, he needs to keep the OL recruits. That has killed us as well since 05.

Our offense has completely sucked up until this point this year and I'm not sure who is to blame, Miles or Crowton. It doesn't matter, Miles can't fire himself so Crowton will definately be the problem needing resolution(probably justifiably, I don't know). What I do know is once Miles has fired Crowton, that NO ONE with any potential or hope of improving their stock will come to LSU and work for Les as OC. Why would any coordinator in the country want to be associated with this staff from an offensive standpoint? This will be a major problem for Les. Right or wrong, its fact.

Posts like this always beg the question: what, exactly, does Les Miles do all season?
In 2008, the defense was atrocious (as a result of hires Miles made). Apparently, he was incapable of stepping in and resolving the issue himself during the season. After the season, he fired his cronies and retained Chavis. The defense has improved under Chavis.
In 2010, the offense has been inept thus far. This is being blamed on Crowton. Apparently, Miles himself cannot step in and remedy the matter immediately. So now he is supposed to resolve the offensive woes by hiring a new coordinator, who will return us to glory.
But this sequence of events indicates that Miles is incapable of autonomously coaching either the offense or the defense. Apparently, he can't actually coach either side of the ball. He's just a figurehead who recruits and hires other men who can actually coach.
