Regardless of the intent using the word "alleged" was stupid and unnecessary. Wonder if they referred to USC as alleged Pac-10 champions after losing to Standford?
As I said, it was a stupid use of a word since there is nothing alleged about our NC. Writers, in an attempt to be provocative can just come off as being dumb.

Our defense didnt play like a defending national champion, hence 'alleged'.

People need to put things in perspective when they say LSU went from National Champs to a crappy 7-5 team. Admitting that we were probably one of the worst national championship teams in the past 25 years helps. I'm not saying we weren't deserving but we had two losses including one on the last week of the regular season. The only reason we even got the chance to play for it was because of the suckiness of the rest the country.

Believe it: LSU DID win the National Championship last year and ARE the defending NC.
Hell, I've seen Super Bowl champs fail to make the playoffs the next year.

Sadly, I think there is a lot of truth to this. I grew up with a tradition of Fighting Tigers, and they took it literally. Many, many memories of our boys from down the bayou defending the end zone like it was their dying breath. Goal line stands seemed to happen regularly. Now we roll over inside the red zone as easily as a $2 whore. I get no feeling of Tiger pride from most of this bunch. For every Darry crying are a dozen Curtis Taylors laughing like that A-Hole Aaron Brooks...so, so sad.
