that would be a big game. and was a close game. at the time maybe Miles didn't want a true freshman to make a mistake or turn the ball over. seems resonable to me. not sure why you can't understand that.

Really? What was the risk when the offense already couldn't do jackshit? If Miles is at all competent, he would have seen early on that the offense couldn't do shite. Florida just played field position the whole game knowing our offense couldn't move the ball. What harm what it have done to put Shepard in the game? Obviously, what we were doing that game was not working at all and the stubborn coaching staff refused to make any adjustments.

Understand what you are saying, but not seeing the field vs UF or PSU was pathetic no matter how you slice it.

The LSU offense was anemic and needed his talent. His season was a total waste and he would have been better off redshirting. You can bet he had some serious doubts last season.

He averaged about 3.5 touches a game.

45 rushing attempts, 5 passing attempts in 13 games. How on this planet does a kid like this avg 3.8 touches a game with the 109th ranked offense in the country?

but we did not lose a game by more than 10 points last year. as bad as the offense was we were still in games.

Makes you wonder if Shepard could have been the difference in at least one of those games if he was played more.

Agree with that. I can understand the rationale about being a freshman, and worrying about turnovers, but we were so inept on offense last year, I couldn't understand not putting Shep in those games.

I do wonder if he didn't see the PSU game because of the conditions. I think we lost two fumbles as it was in that slop. Still, I would have liked to see him get a shot.

By the way - I was out of the country during most of spring practice and the spring game, any developments on Shep maybe returning kicks?

Did you watch the Florida game? The offense couldn't do shite. What harm could this have done? Risk vs. reward. Shepard can give you a much needed big play to turn the game around, it's not like the offense was moving the ball. The NEEDED a spark, and Shepard sat on the bench. Yet Miles decides to keep trying shite that doesn't work, and look what happened.

so having a turn over on our side of the field or worse having them score off of it is not worse than our offense struggling?

he had one fumble last year, your attempt at stretching that into something more is weak as hell

no, he practiced all week. Heard from another offensive starter the week leading up to the game ab how much they were planning on using him. Game comes around and he's nowhere to be seen.

When you have a guy who can turn the game around and give your offense some life, yes it's worth the risk. You have to try new things when your offense can't get anything going.
