JR deserves the best from LSU fans regardless if they think so or not

No former LSU player "deserves" anything. Former LSU players in the NFL like Hester, Faulk, Addai have "earned" my respect (not that they need my particular endorsement). So, I have lost respect for JR based on his actions.

Some of you have strayed from the question.

The answer to the question is certainly there is a chance. Vince Young did it. JR may be able to as well.

Do I think he WILL be successful? No

Thats what they're saying. Hope he gets off his arse and applies himself.

His arse is rather large these days and indicative of the fact that he's displayed little to no work ethic since taking the 30 million $'s from the Raiders. From a performance standpoint I think he got bad advice in holding out as long as he did. He basically lost a year of development. Yeah, he got a lot of money, but he is a guy that could have benefited from getting into camp quickly.

The answer to the original question is a definite yes.

Lots of quarterbacks don't hit their stride until they are 29 to 30. It's the one position in the NFL where older guys actually have an advantage. And Jamarcus is only 24 or 25.

I'm not saying he's a lock to improve but I will say this - if Kerry Collins can do it, anyone can.

JeMarcus is a miserable failure of a man with no work ethic and no sense of responsibility who handles his finances like Mike Tyson.

Did I appreciate his time at LSU due to sheer talent? Yes.

Do I think he'll ever be a successful pro? NO!!!!

I like this as a better question and agree with the answer. Jamarcus is squandering the opportunity.

Unfortunately JR has so much money I don't see him motivated enough to compete at the level he needs to be at.

Professionals in any business are not really motivated by money. That's a side benefit. If they love what they do, they are motivated by the desire to do their profession well. If they are motivated by money, they will eventually fail to be motivated at all.

Hopefully he spends the summer in the film room, works on drills, comes into camp in good shape and we see a renewed JR next season.

He needs to lose/convert at least 50 pounds. Does he have a want to do this?

Honestly can't say.

So what you are saying is that his play at LSU is meaningless to you unless he has a successful NFL career.

Man you must hate Matt Mauck.

Exactly.

You weren't a success in the NFL? Then as an LSU "fan" I have no other choice but to criticize and spew hatred at you.

This "fan" thing isn't really what people think it is.

I tried to run over Dalton Hilliard once. I was appalled by his failures.

Yes, but not in Oakland. It's the perfect storm of Fail for JR and Oakland. JR needs to dedicate himself to being a professional and working hard to be successful (which he's not) and although the Raiders have a lot of talent, they are not set up to win right now. So even if he did put in the work, it would be futile.

JR needs the Brett Favre/Chris Carter/Cedric Benson treatment. Get cut, go to a team that can succeed and make him work his way back to starter. I think he could be successful in a place like Denver or Seattle or Philly or a team like that, but not Oakland.

....JR needs - first and foremost - to get on the "Nutri-System" program and buy himself one of those home gym things...looking at the playbook now and then, and watching a little game film wouldn't hurt , either...

I think you are both taking the statement a little too far...I think what was meant by the statement was that JR has lost any respect earned at LSU with his actions as a pro.

I realize it is not on the same level, but I lost a load of respect for Shak when he turned pro and then spent all of his off time trying to be Mr. Hollywood instead of working on free throws and a mid-range shot from the floor.

I don't know if he gets a second chance or not but he does not deserve one. He basically stole $30 million ( or whatever his rediculous gaurantee was ) from the Raiders with poor work ethic . He took the money and ran. I would run him off.

If anyone thinks he can perform the mental tasks which are going to be and were evident in the NFC game by the QBs, they are smoking some strong weed. Jamarcus has all of the necessary physical attributes, but the work ethic is just not there, and will never be there. Without the proper work ethic, he will never attain the mental capabilities to run a winning NFL team. Is he smart enough? Who knows until he has given full effort. Case closed.

Why do you think the Raiders brought in Hue Jackson? That's a last gasp desperation move. I guess they hope and pray that Jackson can break through to JaWalrus, I mean JaMarcus. Maybe Hue can speak his language and penetrate that thick skull.......
