Only if you don't actually watch the games and only count sacks as production. DH was a very productive player his last year here. 70+ tackles as a true hand in the dirt DE is more rare than 8-10 sacks. Do absolutely shut his side of the line down against the run. Go take a look and see how many true dlinemen have 70+ tackles in the sec. 70+ tackles
13.5 tfl
6 pass d
Is elite production.

and I don’t even think it was the culture at LSU in 2010-2011

i think it all started with Patrick Johnson/Peterson, actually. i think that's when the "3 and done" sales pitch became big

Dave Aranda pretty much tell you we recruit stupid players

it certainly explains why we historically have such problems with zone

but the most interesting part of that speech was this:

quote:

And then, so like, the other part is. When I’m coming to LSU and I’m looking at ‘hey man, they’re kinda like this, they’re kinda like that.’ And then all of a sudden they’re in the pros and they’re like all-pros and like where’s all that s--- when they were at LSU? Where was all that s---? You know what I mean? Where’s that?

this is something i've always wondered. like with the zone stuff. you can't do that in the NFL, so how are so many of our guys elite at things like that as soon as they get to the NFL? it's mind-blowing (to me and Aranda both, apparently)

*ETA: when i say "you can't do that" i mean play man-only like we're prone to do. i think 2 teams do that in the NFL today (NE and MIA)

Prob a combo of multiple factors

College coaches time with players is limited while the NFL doesn't have that restriction.

By the time they reach the NFL this is now the 4th or 5th year of them learning these concepts.

etc

Was thinking the same thing. I'd like to see the entire clinic, maybe Aranda has some theories. Could be what geauxtigahs is saying, all those minicamps and extra install time.

The shift to leaving for the NFL was already happening and instead of fighting it Miles embraced it. He started recruiting with the claim that LSU coaches gets players ready for the league in three years. He invited it.

It's a Louisiana athlete thing.

It's an Aranda being too cerebral thing.

Clearly the athletes didn't get his system.

?? % Agree, OC hire by him most likely would’ve been better this year, that’s with Slinger (SE) also being retained but not as play caller.. sorry guys DA was able to dissect those young men, communicate to them for those who wanted to be a teammate first.. I appreciate DA , 2019NC ??
