Van Pelt is one of the better analyst on ESPN seemed a little surprised especially since LSU has no returning QB, even though they are viciously loaded everywhere else. Obviously, the coaches poll thought no returning QB at LSU gives the same LSU an advantage. Of course, having a 6-5 gunslinger waiting in the wings went into some of the coaches thinking.

Yeah, no returning QB definitely a plus. I can't think of another team who got better by losing 2 starting QB's...

Oklahoma in the hunt again...You've got to be kidding me. The next time we have a few off years, we've got to discover and hire Oklahoma's ad and PR agency.

He's paid to have an opinion on every sport under the sun. Confusing the last names of the only two athletes with the first name Landry doesn't really strike me as a cardinal sin.

he can't do a little research before? like i said, i like him, he's one of the better guy's espn has, but if you're going to breakdown the top 10, do the research. it's not like he covered all of them in depth either. having said that, i live 20 miles from norman, so cut me a break, i fricking hate ou, and down play them anytime i can

You dont think his producer could have told him Landry Fields does not equal Landry Jones?

if he's going to do a 3-4 min segement, and only go in depth on a few teams, he could get the names right. it's not a huge deal, and like i said, i like him, but it's hard for me to give him credit when he talked about ou, yet he can't get their qb's name correct. don't get me wrong, if LSU had a qb as good as jones last year, "we" would have won it all. i'm not saying he isn't good, i just don't see how ou can be ranked so high this season (based on what they lost), and when someone say's "i'm bying the hype", and the reason is becuase of their qb,he could at least get the qb's name right.

You can tell from everything else he said that he knew what he was talking about. It's not about research. He had a slip on the name, it's a different brain function. Landry Fields is at least a real person he's had to comment on before. No research would be calling Landry Jones Landry Johnson.
