Shaq stayed multiple years, Shaq showed care towards the university, Shaq has a statue for what he has done, Shaq made the NCAA tournament

Martin + Mickey was definitely better off than just Ben Simmons.

We made it with Mickey AND Martin, and both of those dudes are on NBA rosters right now. The lack of a rim protector did really hurt us this year, but the thought of trading Mickey for Simmons is insane, even after the Hornsby injuries and all of the other stuff that happened, I wouldn't trade the year of getting to watch Simmons play.

Anyone who doesn't recognize that watching that guy play in purple and gold was special doesn't understand basketball. Was the final result disappointing? Of course, but that doesn't mean I would trade having had him here.

For his size he was special at ball handling, passing, and dribbling. He was a good rebounder, but not special.

He wasn't a go to player. He couldn't shoot away from the basket, and he played very little D. He wasn't strong to the rim because he was more finesse than power.

Now he is an elite talent, and 6'-10" guys that can pass and dribble like he does are very rare. But 6'-10" guys aren't rare and many of them reside in the NBA. Most of them can shoot the ball better than Simmons does now.

Simmons will learn and improve. No question about it, but if you thought Simmons was special you would have loved Maravich, and Jackson in P&G. They were way better early.
